16th Region Week 3 Review

By zebraman - With three weeks complete we are starting to see who teams are. There are still a few that are quite baffling and we will need time to see how good they can ne, looking at you West Carter. One thing that is certain is come March, the battle in the 62nd District (East Carter, Elliott County, Morgan County, West Carter) and the battle in the 63rd District (Greenup County, Lewis County, Raceland, and Russell) is wide open and will be a battle the rest of the season. 1) Ashland (Season: 9-0 This week: 3-0) Another week of Ashland looking quite impressive. Ashland went 3-0 this week... Read More →

8th Region Week 3 Review: Earning Respect

By ColonelMike - 8th Region Week 3 Review: Earning Respect By Colonelmike No more undefeated teams reside in the 8th Region. That said, this past week may have included some of the most impressive accomplishments by 8th Region teams in a while, including a win over the state’s top-ranked team. Long over-looked by the prestigious King of the Bluegrass Tournament, the 8th got three teams in this year’s event – North Oldham, South Oldham, and Collins. And the region’s three representatives made the most of the opportunity, carrying the region 8 banner to a number of notable victories. AS OF... Read More →

5th Region Week 3 Review

By SportsLife - 1. John Hardin (8-0): The Bulldogs continued to roll in Week 3, notching wins over Central Hardin, North Hardin and Paul Laurence Dunbar. Alex Matthews is averaging a team-high double-double of 23.5 points and 11.1 rebounds per game for the John Hardin boys' basketball team. 2. Elizabethtown (4-0): The Panthers rolled past Grayson County to remain undefeated in the young 2019-20 boys' high school basketball season. Jaquais Franklin, Kam Sherrard and Kha Sherrard are each averaging double figures in scoring for the Panthers. 3. Marion County (6-2): After defeating Taylor County, Marion... Read More →

Seventh Region Week 3 Review: A New, But Familiar, Number One

By Smallhoops - I personally was looking forward to a Male-Ballard match-up in the King of the Bluegrass, but it was not to be. Male suffered its first loss to a Kentucky team before getting to the match-up with Ballard, losing to Justin Powell and North Oldham 78-71. With that loss, the Bulldogs drop to the number two spot behind the 5-1 Ballard Bruins, who will play North Oldham tonight in the KOB championship game. And don't worry about missing out on a Male-Ballard battle; they face-off with one another on January 31 and have the potential to meet two additional times, in the LIT and the Seventh... 1st Region Week 3 Review

By silo11 - Week Three Review: McCracken County is flexing its muscles and continue to prove they are the cream of the crop. Marshall is busy playing outside the state, so it hard to determine how good they are against KY competition. Paducah Tilghman has been the biggest mover of the week after a 7 game winning streak, and Murray is hanging on to the 3rd spot. Here is what happened this past week in Region 1: 1. McCracken County Season Record: 7-3 McCracken continues to impress even in the loss they took this week at the King of the Bluegrass. The Mustangs took BGP#4 Male to the limit,... Read More →

13th Region Week 3 Review

By Les - 1. North Laurel (7-1 overall, 4-0 vs. 13th Region opponents) The Jaguars have been rolling along since it’s season-opening loss to Collins. North Laurel has won seven games in a row, including a 73-63 win over South Laurel and a 75-63 victory over Great Crossing. Freshmen and cousin duo Reed Sheppard and Ryan Davidson turned in big efforts during The Jaguars’ win over the Cardinals. Sheppard had 21 points in the win while Davidson added 20 points. 2. Clay County (6-3, 2-0) The Tigers snapped a three-game losing skid by defeating Palmetto, Fla., 75-64. The win Clay County to post a... Read More →

Sixth Region Week 3 Review: If You Are Looking For Clarity, Don't Look Here

By Smallhoops - I almost flipped a coin to decide who to put in the Number 1 spot this week. Jeffersontown has been playing well and was undefeated but then got beat by Fern Creek, who is very talented but already has four losses, including a loss to Manual, who lost to Pleasure Ridge Park this week, and while PRP had a good week it earlier had lost to J'Town and lost this week to Seneca, which can't be considered a bad loss because Seneca also beat Fern Creek and DeSales but who earlier in the year lost to Butler by 18 points. So you tell me who should be number one. I ended up moving Fern Creek back... Read More →

2nd Region Week 3 Review

By silo11 - Week Three Review: Webster County is the only undefeated team left in Region 2 since Madisonville suffered its first loss. Livingston Central and Hopkins County Central continue to remain winless, while Lyon County, Caldwell County, and Crittenden all had big weeks. Lots of teams playing in Holiday tournaments after Christmas. Here are the week 3 rankings: 1. Madisonville North Hopkins – BGP #6 Season record: 7-1 The Maroons continue to prove they are one of the best teams in Kentucky, even in losing their first game of the year at the King of the Bluegrass. Madisonville took a... Read More →

9th Region Week 3 Review: Things are starting to shape up a little.

By PP1 - With three regions in Northern Kentucky and the existence of the NKAC, we see a plethora (3 Amigos) of inter-regional matchups in December. Personally, I have never been a fan of the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference, but over the years I have found myself to be in the minority. It would appear that Lloyd Memorial is in the North Central Athletic Conference with Walton Verona and some of the other County Schools. I think there is also an entity known as the Northern Ky Coach’s Association (NKCA) which does include Lloyd and Walton Verona. This is when head coaches get together to... Read More →

12th Region Week 3 Review

By se7ens - 1) Lincoln County (6-1) – Lincoln County gained their first loss at East Jessamine without the services of Bryston Alcorn. They picked up a couple solid wins earlier in their week against West Jessamine and Marion County leading to their retention of the top spot. The Patriots head to Lexington Christian after Christmas for the Central Bank Classic. 2) Pulaski County (6-2) – I do not yet have any information on their scheduled game from yesterday against Bullitt County, but the Maroons defeated Wayne County 80-59 and Campbellsville 89-56 while losing to St. Joseph Prep out of Huntington,... 3rd Region Week 3 Review : New Number 1

By ApolloFan98 - With the Holiday's quickly approaching, this will be an abbreviated review for week 3 around the 3rd Region. Once again this season, it feels like the 3rd Region is lagging behind the state when it comes to top tier teams but it should be a fun race at the top of the region to see who can get to Rupp. The bottom half of the region had an extra rough week this week. Lets get to it.... 1. Ohio County Eagles (7-0) UP 1 Tony Hopper has his Eagles off to a red hot start. They moved to 2-0 in district play on Tuesday with a big win over Muhlenberg. The Eagles also picked up wins over... Read More →

11th Region Week 3 Review

By mooremiller31 - Week 3 is in the books in the 11th Region and there has been some serious shakeup in the rankings. One team has established themselves as the team to beat in the region while some other teams leave a lot to be desired as far as preseason expectations! Lets check out whats been going on this past week in the 11th! TEAM RANKINGS 1. Lexington Catholic (8-0) -The Knights continue to roll into the new year.
