16th Region Week 4 Review

By zebraman - Week 4 is now in the books. Ashland proved this week, not only are they at the top of the heap for the 16th region but they are able to play with good teams from other regions as well. Rowan County continued their winning ways as well. Outside of that, things are still a little jumbled. We look to get a little clearer picture over the next 10 days. 1) Ashland (Season: 12-0 This week: 3-0) This week was a big week for Ashland. Ashland hosted and won the 65th Annual Ashland Invitational Tournament. This was quite a big accomplishment based upon the amount of talent in the... Read More →

11th Region Week 4 Review

By mooremiller31 - What a week in the 11th Region! The central KY area was blessed with some of the top teams in the state of Kentucky making there way to Lexington to play in the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic and the Central Bank Classic at LCA. Some other teams around the region ventured out to test the competition around the state and out of state. The 11th is quite the story this season. Everyone is pretty set on who the top 3 teams are but after that I'm not sure you wouldn't have a better chance of ranking them if you just pulled the next 7 out of a hat. Lets get to it! TEAM... 13th Region Week 4 Review

By Les - 1. North Laurel (8-3 overall, 4-0 vs. 13th Region opponents) The Jaguars’ trio to Florida didn’t turn out the way they would have liked. After coming off wins over both South Laurel and Great Crossing, North Laurel posted a 1-2 record during this past week’s Rock Holiday Classic. Nate Valentine’s team will be teated Saturday against Pulaski County when the Jaguars compete against the Maroons in South Laurel’s Raymond Reed Classic. 2. Paducah Tilghman makes a surprise entry into BGP top 20 at #20 as they had won 7 straight before losing 2 this week. Marshall County looks to rebound and show they are a top 20 deserving team, while Murray still shows they are a very good team, waiting to be noticed. Here is the week 4 review: 1. McCracken County – BGP #8 Season Record: 10-4 McCracken look very good in this week’s games, almost avenging a loss to BGP #6 Madisonville. They couldn’t pull out the win in a very tight... Sixth Region Week 4 Review: Fern Creek remains in the top spot

By Smallhoops - I give teams in the Sixth Region a lot of credit - a good number of them were in Florida this past week playing in tournaments. A few are still there. While the temperatures have been mild here, I must admit I have been jealous of the teams that were in Florida. There is not much change in this week's rankings. Top-ranked Fern Creek did not play, and it is always hard to evaluate both wins and losses against out-of-state teams. There will be more data on which to base the rankings once everyone is back in Kentucky and gets back to playing each other. However, congratulations are in... Read More →

Seventh Region Week 4 Review: Ballard looks strong in winning the KOB

By Smallhoops - Congratulations to the Ballard Bruins on winning the King of the Bluegrass tournament once again. The Bruins are worthy champions. Ballard followed up its KOB championship with a strong performance at the Kentucky Lake Showcase. Sophomore Maker Bar has been declared eligible and adds to an already strong lineup for Ballard, which will get even stronger with the return from injury of senior Rashad Bishop. But no one is ready to hand the Seventh Region title to Ballard. While Male lost in the KOB to North Oldham and its star Justin Powell, the Bulldogs can beat anybody at any given time... Read More →

9th Region Week 4 Review: Only one undefeated team and no more winless ones.

By PP1 - I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. While it is great to celebrate the Holiday Season and I enjoy the two weeks off from work, it is a little difficult to venture out for Boys' Basketball. I was able to watch some of the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic via the web. With no play-by-play it felt as if I was sitting in the gym itself. I hear that Simon Kenton is playing in the championship game and, while I of course realize that they are not an 9th Region Team, it is good to see Kenton County well represented. There are some regular-season games taking place starting Friday in the... Read More →

They defeated Madison Central 53-46, then split game with top 10 caliber teams in the state, defeating Collins 60-58 and losing to Madisonville-North Hopkins 81-71. Bourbon County will face Frederick Douglass in the 3rd place game on December 30. The Colonels senior dominated team appears to be their best team in a long time. Amirion Joyce and Nakyir Joyce lead the Colonel's high flying office and pressure defense. 2. George Rogers Clark (7-3) - The Cardinals had... Read More →

8th Region Week 4 Review - Pick a Team, Any Team

By ColonelMike - 8th Region Week 4 Review: Pick a Team, Any Team By Colonelmike I have to apologize; by necessity, I must be very brief this week….I’m heading out on the road to take in a bowl game and have to leave in a few short hours. So we’ll make this short and snappy. The bottom-line for Week 4: Lady Luck can give, and she can take away. This was the week when she largely took away from teams who could have asserted themselves, but couldn’t quite get over the hump. Collins fell to #4-ranked Male in the third-place game of the King of the Bluegrass….North Oldham fell to #1-ranked ... Read More →
