    Fedor to the UFC?

Just read this on another site. Not sure how much truth there is to it.

It's true, Fedor has signed a UFC contract. He will be making 1.8 million per fight and is locked in for 4 fights at this point. He is being allowed to compete in sambo competitions, but the Russian co-promotion with UFC is not happening. Fedor's management was upset about that, but Fedor himself insisted on the contract anyway because he wanted to fight where they had the biggest concentration of the best of MMA HW's.

I am not even going to bother posting this to Sherdog, I was flamed way too much last time I broke news and didn't appreciate it. I'm sure this will make it there soon though. The official announcement will be made right before the main event of UFC 75.

It has also been confirmed that Fedor will be at UFC 75 this weekend promoting his new clothing line with Affliction. However, according to this article he has not inked a deal with anyone.

If he's signed, we'll hear about it at UFC 75. Dana White loves to make "huge" announcements. And yes...this one really would be HUGE.

I hope that's true...I just read on ufcdaily.com that Dana White said the last round of negotiations did not go well.

    Fedor - Dana White

I noticed that report is dated September 2 and yours is September 4...hopefullly, they've made some progress in those two days. UFC can't let Fedor get away...I have to see he and Couture fight.

That would be a great fight around February or March...

That would be about it for me...if they got Fedor, I wouldn't care too much about getting anyone else.

Although, a few others I'd like to see in UFC...

Heavyweights - Mark Hunt, Mark Hunt, Josh Barnett

Light Heavyweights - Minotoro, Ninja Rua, Alistair Overeem, Ricardo Arona

Middleweights - Paulo Filho, Matt Lindland

It would add some real quality depth, but they are pretty solid without those guys right now. Filho is the guy I'd most like to see...he'd give a big boost to the Middleweight division, but he signed with WEC I think. He and Anderson Silva are teammates, so I think he may have signed there so they wouldn't have to fight.

The UFC owns the WEC, so Filho can come and fight in the UFC at anytime.

It'd be nice to see Gomi and even Nick Diaz back in the UFC as well. I love watching Nick Diaz fight.

Speculation is that Dana is trying to downplay it, so info does not get leaked. He denied the Pride thing for quite some time. We shall see on Saturday.

I can't wait for a huge announcement right before one of the biggest fights in history of the UFC...

Seriously, what would be a better time to announce that Fedor is signed and that there will be a Heavyweight unification bout between he and Couture than at the very first ever unification bout between Hendo and Rampage...

...I hope that's what happens Saturday.

I was excited even before this came about. Now I'm ecstatic! The wait is killing me.

For real...if Fedor signs, White has already stated he'd get an immediate title shot, which means I'll finally get to see my dream matchup. Fedor vs. Couture...imagine the hype for such an event. Talk about Champion vs. Champion...

I wonder what they'd call a PPV with Couture as the UFC HW Champ against Fedor as the PRIDE HW Champ...Legend vs. Legend...

    I really hope Fedor signs.

Talk on the other message board I'm on is that Fedor wants one fight before the title shot....a "feeder" fight, if you will. Supposedly, he's been training to fight in October. I also read that Heath Herring (who would be a great "feeder" fight) was approached about fighting in Oct., but he turned it down to "spend time with his family." Imagine if Fedor was slated to fight in October. That would be UFC 77 in the 'Nati baby! I know it's wishful thinking, but if that happens I might pee my pants. Plus, that would be perfect timing for him to fight Randy in February...perhaps SuperBowl weekend.

Of course, another "rumor" is that he will be fighting at UFC 76 in a couple of weeks. All this speculation is driving me nuts!

Well, Couture is recovering from a broken arm, so I could see giving Fedor a feeder fight and allowing Couture some additional recovery time.

But, assuming Fedor is signed quickly, if I were UFC, there is no way Randy Couture would fight again until Fedor. There's no way I'd take a chance on him losing that belt and missing out on the hype it would bring to have he and Fedor fight to unify the HW title. That could be worked out with Couture's arm and Fedor signing ASAP...but if it drags on, who knows.

I doubt that Randy would have another fight before facing Fedor. The broken arm gives them another reason to wait until next year for his next fight. Middleweight title fight is in October. Lightweight title in November. Welterweight title New Years weekend. Makes sense for the next heavyweight title fight to be the first weekend in February. If Fedor were to fight at the end of this month, or next month, it would be perfect timing.
