    UK in a downward spiral...

They really needed a sweep of Auburn and at worst winning 2 of 3 against the Tigers. Auburn was limping into the series and UK had dropped 6 straight conference games.
Bottom line you need to get into the SEC Tourney and that pretty much gets you in the NCAA Tourney.
As of now the Cats are buried. Swept in Bama. Swept at USC. Now facing a sweep versus the Tigers.
Me thinks Coach Henderson may be in hot water.

ZERO improvement across the board since he came into the picture. If anything, we've regressed in virtually all phases of the game since Cohen left for MSU. Its time for a change...

My son and I went down to watch today. Disappointing to say the least.

Lethargic is the word that comes to mind.

UK took 2 of 2 from 12th-ranked Arkansas this weekend.

I think it's been a very disappointing season for UK baseball.

When I watched their 3 games in Oxford a couple of weekends ago their pitching seemed to be severely lacking. The Friday night starter went as long as he could and was excellent, but a couple of huge errors by the 3rd baseman cost UK the game. Then on Saturday and Sunday UK's pitching was just terrible to watch, they left a lot of balls up in the zone.

Well Kentucky might have taken 2 from Arkansas, the fact still remains though they've been a huge disappointment throughout the year. I still say Henderson has to go.

Typical UK baseball last night. Up 5-1 on LSU on the road and then they give up 8 runs in the 8th.

I get why Luke Maile plays first base. Lack of offense has been a problem for UK so you need offensive weapons in the game. When your #2 catcher is one of your better hitters you have to play him.

However, when you're up late in a game you have to put your best defense on the field. The passed ball by the catcher last night was crucial in the 8th.

It has been a disappointing season. Good young players are benefitting from the playing time. Good recruits coming in. Anyone think the future is looking up? Does Henderson have to make the conference tournament next season?

The future is not looking up. Next year's recruiting class will be solid but will not be as good as past classes. Nearly everyone in our previous classes has been drafted however this years class will have fewer of those caliber players in number.

I also don't like people calling this team "young" as that may be the case but who made it that way? What it means is that the recruits Henderson brought in at first have not panned out and the older players already here have been ran off (see Andy Burns). Henderson is running out of excuses of not making the postseason.

His previous years he has had some considerable talent but has yet to make postseason play. We currently only have 4 SEC wins this year. The record low is 5 wins. Given the rest of our schedule there is a good chance we might not win another ball game except against Indiana and Western Kentucky. We have games against Vanderbilt, Florida and Georgia and there is a good likelihood we will be swept in each.

Henderson deserves to be fired as he has consistently underperformed and then this season was like adding fuel to the fire. The guy proved to be a good assistant but it appears he is not cut out for being a Head Coach. Thats not a knock on him at all because there are only a select few who can do it.

UK's Alex Meyer shuts out the #1 team (or #2 depending on the poll) in the country tonight. Nice win.

UK took 2 of 3 from UGA this weekend but UGA claimed the last spot in the SEC tourney.

Maile had a great weekend. 6/10 3 RBIs with a double, triple, and a HR.

UK is 7-20 in the SEC.

    Luke Maile's final stats.

Maile, a sophomore who started 23 games at catcher, 24 at first base and three as the designated hitter, finished with a .282 average, a team-high nine homers, 29 RBI, a .361 on-base percentage and .525 slugging percentage.

Very good season for Luke this year but he has to learn to cut down on the strikeouts. Once he does that, those other stats will get better as well.
