Koren Robinson and Ricky Williams Want Back In the NFL

A pair of high-profile NFL stars who have served one-year suspensions for violating the league's substance abuse policy want to get back in the game.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Koren Robinson and Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams are seeking reinstatement to the NFL after serving their suspensions, according to media reports.

Williams is eligible to seek reinstatement by the NFL after Oct. 1 and will do so, his attorney said Friday. And Robinson has submitted his application for reinstatement, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Robinson's agent, Alvin Keels, told the Journal Sentinel his client is working out in Phoenix while the commissioner's office reviews his application. He said Robinson was eligible 60 days before the Oct. 17 anniversary of his one-year suspension.

Robinson's suspension followed alcohol-related arrests, most recently an Aug. 15, 2006, incident in Mankato, Minn., in which he allegedly led police on a high-speed chase and was charged with having a blood-alcohol level of 0.11, above the Minnesota legal limit of 0.08.

I'm not sure how well Ricky will perform. Most of the fileds today feature Field Turf and it is well known that Ricky plays better on grass.

If Thurman was not allowed back, Robinson definitely should not be allowed back for drunk driving and leading the cops on a high speed chase...

Just about a paycheck and I wouldn't watch Williams, if he was in my backyard.

Its easy to pick up yards when you're running behind a smoke screen.

Suspension over; WR Robinson joins Pack

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- His one-year suspension over, wide receiver Koren Robinson rejoined the Green Bay Packers as they returned from their bye week Monday.

"It's a great feeling. To get out there for the first time with them, it's overwhelming, really," said Robinson, who was reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell last week after serving the yearlong suspension for his third violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

Robinson spent the weekend with quality control assistant Ty Knott reacquainting himself with the Packers offense.

"I'm just happy to be back and happy I got this second opportunity," he said.

Coach Mike McCarthy said he hasn't decided whether Robinson will play in the Packers' next game, which will be at Denver on Monday night.

In fact, McCarthy said he has yet to receive clarification from the league on how long Robinson's roster exemption lasts. There's some confusion as to whether it expires on Wednesday or on Oct. 31.
