I need to change my story a little. If I was Brown I would take a defensive player first. Then I would try to improve depth on both lines. Since I don't think he thinks like that I hope he takes Green. If their first pick isn't a QB I'll be happy.

I agree. If they pick a QB with the 4th pick, it's a mistake.

I'd take Green and I would move Carson and Chad for whatever. After that get character guys, and start young Palmer next year. It is really the only option that helps Cincy because they will have to get the #1 pick next year if JPalmer starts and can take Luck or Barkley who ever they think is better. Sounds dumb but realistically this is the best option out there IMO. No since in potentially wasting a pick, millions of dollars and half a decade on a QB who may or may not pan out. Go for the real deal next year.

I would become a lifetime Bengals fan if they went with this strategy. It's unprecedented and so stupid it may work. They could have one of the best young QB-WR duos in the league starting next year. The thing is that I'm only half kidding.

I think somebody will snag Green before the Bengals can get him and we end up with a QB.

The Bengals defense has plenty of depth everywhere except safety, and we aren't taking a safety in the first round. If I listed the positions where the Bengals have the most quality depth, I would go cornerback, defensive end, linebacker, defensive tackle as the four best positions. After that, all the other positions have needs except TE.

Do any of you guys think that they need to do something strong soon to try to salvage the diminishing ticket base? That certainly can't include just throwing the season away with a bad draft and not trying to improve the squad to win more games now. Believe me they are well aware of how much of this base has been lost already. Since I did not respond to their renewal letters I have been getting at least one recorded message a month from Marvin Lewis begging me to reconsider the renewal of my tickets.

This really is one of the most important drafts in Bengals history IMO. The fanbase is upset, and this team with some bad decisions could end up back in the dark days of the 90's. However with the right kind of draft, they really could be building a very talented team. Its so hard to tell which way this team will go in drafts.

If they take Green at #4 would Locker still be there at #35?

It isn't a given Joseph will be back. You can't have too much depth on the lines.

So the Bengals took Green in Round 1. <Check>

Now what happens in Round 2?

I think there will be a flurry of trades today. If I'm the Bengals, I call up New England and dangle Chad and try to get that 33rd pick and go get Dalton or Mallet.

Take a QB if they truly believe Carson isn't coming back, maybe QB even if they think he's coming back. Other areas of need would be DB/S, OL and RB. I wouldn't mind if they picked the RB from Illinois.
