  1. First I want to make it very clear the I love Alex Matthews. i know him and his family very well. He is a phenomenal person. However, how could you come to this conclusion? Pearson averaged 21 and 10 his junior year and 27 and 11 his senior year. Pearson competed against CJ Frederick, Trevon Faulkner, Adam Kunkel, Jay Scrubbs etc. for Gatorade POY. This is gonna sound like i don't like Matthews; which is far from the case. I know and love the kid very much. But to suggest he was a better player than Pearson is kinda crazy to me. I mean the kid is the schools all time leader in points, rebounds, block shots, etc etc. Maybe I'm missing something here. Are you suggesting that Pearson's team made it to state because of Matthews? He was never a big part of that team as a sophomore.
  2. Basketball is a bit different from football or baseball for that matter. Typically in a basketball game only about 6 or 7 players get the majority of playing minutes. It is difficult for a kid to just sit with the prospect of playing time so little. Couple that with unreal expectations from parents, AAU coaches etc. and you get a kid that's anxious to play right away. Turn to the transfer portal where you have been promised playing time or the prospect of playing time with a new team.IMO.
  3. Fifth Region Quentin Goodin Mason Faulkner Mickey Pearson David Sloan Brandon Price Tony Jackson Alex Matthews Eljay Cowherd Darius Hardin Tre Smith
  4. For the 5th Region you have 2 alums from John Hardin; yet you don't have Mickey Pearson the school's all time leader in about 6 categories to include scoring and rebounding.
