  1. Kate is the best! Hope Austin bounces back fast, best of luck on the recovery. She will take care of him.
  2. Where are all the Colt fans going? Game isn't over yet!
  3. So, only speaking to the "what has CAL done?" portion of this: CAL defeated Eastern High School (6A) 45-10 in 2014 and Central beat them 38-0. Granted the point differential is still 3 points in Central's favor, but CAL pulled starters in the 3rd quarter. And to top that off, DeSales beat CAL 7-6 in the playoffs (which was more than likely the championship game played 3 weeks early for 2A. So I would say...your 6A argument is unfounded and a 2A school beating a 6A versus a 3A beating that same 6A is about equal, maybe a bit more impressive. But it is really just a guess at this point, no one has hit anyone yet. Either way, that is what CAL has done and eventually what DeSales did.
  4. CAL's coaches are smart and prepare one game at a time...Mayfield is an obstacle - formidable to say the least - BUT DeSales is a district competitor and the 2-time defending 2A State Champions. CAL has been able to beat them in the regular season but the playoffs have been another matter (one missed block from a different finish last year). Hopefully the Centurions will see the biggest obstacle to them winning state is the 11 guys lined up across the line of scrimmage from them on the Friday night they are playing...one obstacle at a time. Win the next play!
  5. Christian Academy looks to reload this year. Some big losses in their scoring to graduation - RB, QB, FB, K. Their OL and DL takes a hit with the loss of one good player and their LB corp is in the same boat. Graduation plays havoc on a team! The graduates were the winningest group of kids in school history. There is some good and bad in their future though. The bad is they are changing up their schedule and SK is out there (insert Jaws theme). The district re-alignment won't hurt much but the Colts are always a force to be reckoned with (insert StarWars theme.) Personnel are going to be bigger and stronger in some pretty key places - DE and TE, Def line and secondary. How do you replace a RB like #24 ? Meet #10 . The WRs will be awesome this year - all talented young men that know how to get open and what to do with the ball when they catch it. The kicking game will be fine - based on the performance of the talented freshman last year - being a sophomore won't hurt his confidence. The QB change will be the most interesting - 2 guys graduated from that group - but word has it their big-hitting safety from last year(good good athlete) can throw it and has legs too. This doesn't even take into consideration any incoming freshman (8th grade team won state) or transfers. So, what do the Centurions have to do to keep their momentum? The coaches will make them buckle their chinstraps and tie on their cleats and take each and every play like it meant the state tournament. They will reload and play hard, prepare and recover. CAL has an outstanding coaching staff that will do the most with the players they have. IMO they have the talent and the ability to make a state run...we will see.
  6. Tanner Young, QB Christian Academy of Louisville committed to Centre College on 4/30 - great school, great team, good fit
  7. I think it will be a good game, CAL should be ready and healthy. Hate that they had a bye, but from this point on it is win to advance. CAL 35-7
  8. IMO the dye is cast, CAL is slotted in the playoffs and once they start playing, they have to win them all. It is not much fun to look back while another team holds up the trophy and say that you were ranked #1 on a fan site going into the playoffs. Would love to see the best teams down the road, but every Friday night has its own obstacles...only worry about the next team, at this point, everyone is a contender.
  9. Male is #1 6a with wins over Trinity and StX, I would say that if Caldwell can show a higher level of competition with a win, they should be #1. I think Male and CAL will be a good game, but is totally useless and probably detrimental going into playoffs. CAL already has a 6a win, 4a win has swept their district and beaten LCA in a game that was called at the half due to weather. They have not flinched and have thrived. Male is another 11 (very good) guys to face off against. Win or lose, they are willing to go against anyone. Hopefully everyone comes thru healthy and ready to play when it counts.
  10. Desales D-Line is big and fast, Pirtle is a beast assisted by 3 others just as hungry. I know there were questions about CAL's QB, in comparison, he looked pretty good - more than capable, but I haven't seen a lot of other teams.
  11. The defense for CAL was impressive, but how did the offense look in comparison to others? Defense wins championships but the offense has to help!
  12. Gosh guys, I think all of the top 10 teams feel like their teams are deserving of consideration and have a shot to be playing in the game at WKU. A lot can happen between now and then and it is dangerous to be thinking beyond this Friday if you ask me. ColtPride, I was wondering about your "record stats" as there have been only 5 weeks of the season, but regardless, both the teams are impressive. That would be why they are #1 and #2, but #3 thru #10 are gunning for you and no one gets to the finals after playing the first half of the season, you have to play them all. I wish luck to all the teams and hope to see the best other team across the stadium from us in December.
  13. Agreed on the District play uncertainty, and these are teenage boys too. I know CAL has put in their work and treat each game like it is playoff time, so I know they are ready. I think CAL's defense is the best I have seen in several years. And it is hard to get much more than 56 with a running clock. Just hope for a safe game and everyone gets a chance to play.
  14. I agree with you Price499, CAL looks good even though working through some kinks. If they can keep Beasley from running rampant, they should be ok. I will take CAL by 14 points...35/21.
