  1. Senior point guard Allie Hennard buried four of Villa Madonna’s five 3-pointers and finished with 14 points and three steals. Hennard helped ice the game with 8 of her 14 points coming in the fourth quarter, including two 3-pointers . Junior guard Alex Hengge added 10 points and seven rebounds, and senior center Morgan Case grabbed 14 boards for the Blue Lightning, who have hit 23 3-pointers in their last three games. Hennard has scored 12 of those 23 treys. Villa Madonna won for the fourth time in its last five games.
  2. Villa senior guard Allie Hennard hit three 3-pointers in the first half and one in the second half en route to a team high 16 points. She also hit 4 free throws in the last minutes of the game to put the game out of reach for Beechwood. Jr forward Alex Hennge added three 3-pointers to finish with 15 points. The Blue Lightning finsihed with nine 3-pointers in the second straight game to tie a school record. Villa also hit 9 3-pointers against St. Henry in the All "A" semi finals, giving them 18 3-pointers in 2 games. Hennard had 8 of those 3-pointers in the last two games. Tigers guard Ally Johnson finished with 21 points.
  3. The all-tournament team also includes:Makena Kindoll, Switzerland Co's Eve Galbreath, Pulaski County's Brittany Warren and Haley Warren; Villa Madonna's Allie Hennard; Henry County's Cheyenne Clark; and Taylor County's Haley Wright.
  4. Their 2 seniors from last year were not starters. Villa has a successful girls bb program considering there are only about 160 total students in the high school. They made two regional appearances in the past three years. They did have more than 2 big wins last year. Their key player and the one to watch is senior point guard, Allie Hennard. She is one of 4 returning seniors, but the only starter. I think they might surprise some people this season.
  5. I think I agree. They beat Dixie by 9. They lost to Lloyd by 1 in overtime. I watched that game and they should have won. Don't know if they can beat Dixie again. Villa really doesn't get the credit it deserves-like you said "I can't believe I'm saying this...". Villa has a lot of talent but doesn't get any press. They did get a nice article in the Community Recorder about their defense and their top players, Allie Hennard, Lauren Dumaine and Alex Hengge. In the last 2 games against Dixie they held Hartfiel to 3 points in two games. Hartfiel is an all-around great player and holding her to only 3 points is an accomplishment.
  6. What are your predictions for the 34th district? St. Henry has it wrapped up, but who be runner-up?
  7. Lloyd 57, Villa Madonna 56, OT: Sophomore forward Victoria Stagge scored a team-high 16 points to help Lloyd end a two-game losing streak. Teammates Shelby Rudd and Danielle Cheatum added 16 and 10 points, respectively. Villa Madonna junior guard Allie Hennard led all scorers with 22 points, 11 for 15 from the line. Villa came back from 11 down for the tie but lost by one in overtime.
  8. Villa wins 47-31. Junior forward Morgan Case finished with a double double 13 points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard Allie Hennard had 5 of Villa's 8 steals and added 8 points. The Wildcats turned the ball over 25 times.
  9. Nicole Kiernan is so strong for being just a sophomore. She makes it look easy!
  10. Villa Madonna 36-Deming 32 Villa led most of the game. Junior guard Allie Hennard lead the way with 14 points including 4 3's. Senior Katie Miller, Junior Lauren Dumaine and Sophomore Alex Hengge were the other leading scorers for Villa. Deming was strong underneath.
  11. Villa has 3 returning starters. They are a young team with some young talent. Junior Allie Hennard will move from the 2 guard to point. She was the second leading scorer last year as a sophomore and was named to the All-Region Tournament Team. She is the one to watch in the conference and the district. Katie Miller is the only starting senior returning this year. She's quick and plays great defense. The other returning starter is Junior center Morgan Case.
