  1. 12. The Commissioner ruled Jenkins ineligible last week.

HC is made to look like the bad guy in this situation, however all they are doing is making sure that the rules are being followed. The easy thing to do would be to allow this to happen. The difficult thing is to stand up for what is right.

I believe the kid got really bad advice from some adults and was easily led. It's a shame that he is the one suffering the consequences, however kids cannot, and should not, dictate to adults what they are going to do.

  2. 8. SC sent transfer documentation, as the receiving school, to HC. HC forwarded the completed transfer form to the KHSAA, noting that there should be an investigation.

    9. The KHSAA allowed the transfer. HC inquired and was told they did not send any supporting documentation.

    10. HC did bring supporting documentation to an appeal hearing, which was attended by SC, as well as Jenkins family.

    11. The hearing officer ruled that this was not a valid transfer, but that the Commissioner had the final say. All of this took place before the beginning if the season.

  3. 5. He was upset because he was required to take core classes. He wanted to take PE again.

    6. He texted Larry, my brother, and told him he was transferring to Scott County "for basketball reasons." Thanked Larry for all he had done for him.

    7. Last summer he played AAU ball for a team that was coached by a janitor at one of the Scott County public schools. Two other players, one from Madison Central the other from somewhere else (each their schools top player) transferred to Scott County

  4. Walter, here's the skinny on the DJ Jenkins situation:

    1. I am the brother of the HC Head Coach, preceded him as the HC Head Coach.

    2. DJ and his family rent a home that is owned by our father.

    3. DJ attended HCHS at the beginning of the school year for 3 days.

    4. At some point during those 3 days, he was reprimanded at least twice for shooting in the gym without adult supervision, during times when he was supposed to be in class.

  5. It's amazing how poorly kids shoot free throws anymore. Should make at least 70%, and many teams are fortunate to make over 50%. Looks like that hurt HC tonite.
  6. Flu caused cancellation of HC schools today. Thompson is a victim.
  7. Harrison County defeats Scott on the Hilltop. No details.
  8. Call me old school. I don't like all tourney teams, especially for teams that advance to the regional. I especially don't like them when the head coach is left to pick his team's representative(s). I guess in this day of individualism, it's about right to have individual awards in the ultimate team sport. Ugh.
  9. I spent 4 great years at PC. Loved coaching and teaching there. Made lots of good friends. I think a lot of Keaton and his family and think he is very capable, given the chance. However, if what I heard about how the crowd treated Coach Cravens on Tuesday is true, those fans should be ashamed of themselves, adults or students. Evidently, it was bad enough that his wife left in tears. I'm certain I had many detractors there in my tenure, but nothing as overtly hateful and hurtful as that. Shame on you.
  10. Here goes: Campbell over Bracken 68-54 Harrison over GRC 54-52 Brossart over MoCo 56-55 Augusta over Robertson 75-66 Harrison over Campbell 63-62 Brossart over Augusta 66-58 Harrison over Brossart 52-49 Hey, blood's thicker than water. Good luck Little Brother and HC!
  11. Montgomery vs Brossart Augusta vs Robertson I'm sure GRC likes their draw...Harrison probably does too.
  12. Looks like some potentially great first round match-ups in the 10th Region Tournament at Mason County this year. Winners--Augusta, Campbell Co., Harrison Co., Montgomery Co. Runners-up--Brossart, Bracken Co., GRC, Robertson Co.
  13. Tom Wendt at Owensboro Apollo in the 1970s. Tom Boerwinkle at MMI in the 50s.
  14. I believe the final was 70-55. Dillion Pulliam was a DNP for the Breds. Sprained ankle suffered in game-day shoot-around.
  15. Just watched the first half...took advantage of the opportunity to take care of my grandson. Uninspired effort by the Breds vs an inspired effort by Bourbon. Colonels played like the underdog with a chip in their shoulder. Not intimidated by the Breds. Undersized, but controlled the glass on both ends in first half...led by 5 at halftime. Colonels played a 3-2 zone and stifled HC. Made Breds beat them from perimeter...weren't able to shoot them out of the zone.
