Congrats to Holmes. 2nd year in a row that Elliott County loses to the eventual state champion. I wish it had been Elliott County playing in a double OT thriller but it just wasn't meant to be. Awesome game Covington Holmes. You guys played with dignity and heart. Congratulations again. -

Congrats to Holmes...Excellent game...All I can say is Ricardo Johnson is a monster...He played a great game as did Pittman. Again congrats to Holmes. Congrats to Elliott County as well. You guys are hardcore, hardnosed ballplayers that have no reason to hang your heads. You played your best and I regretfully say that your best just wasn't good enough today. Holmes was the better team on the floor today. Again congrats to everyone that was on the floor in today's games. Both teams made it farther than many teams in the state. I know there are several basketball teams in the state that would have loved the opportunity to be where both teams were today. -

Thursday Night Attendence at Rupp

Rupp Arena's seating capactiy is 23,000. I wasn't there last night (Wish I was) but from what I heard there were very few seats that didn't have a butt in them. -
As to your foul question, I would say a foul is a foul regardless. If you rule that it is not then what is to stop 2 kids from beating the fire out of each other as soon as the buzzer goes off. Hence it would not be a foul so there should be no penalty correct?

Plato--I agree with your comment as well. Anderson County came very close to beating Elliott County once already. As for Christian County I have not seen them play but everyone talks very highly of them and if they were not a legit team they wouldn't be in the Sweet 16. -

5wide--Agree 100%. Everyone in the tournament has a legitimate shot at winning the championship or they wouldn't be in the Sweet 16 to begin with. I can concede that both Holmes and Elliot are great teams with their own styles of play and either team could very well be the next state champion. -

Uphill Battle--I understand Ballard didn't make it. However, my point concerning the Ballard game was a lot of people on BGP said that Ballard would come into Sandy Hook and "run Elliott County out of their own gym." My point was that it didn't happen even though people talked about how much better Ballard was than EC. -

Half of them...Eastern, Corbin, Lex Cath, Mason Co., Shelby Valley, Anderson Co., Holmes and Elliott County. I'm not doubting Holmes defensive abilities against any other team in the state. I'm just not sure they can stop Elliott County's shooters. -

Cedar Hill is also ranked #4 NATIONALLY by MaxPreps where as Elliott is #546 and Holmes is #127. If a team ranked #546 in the nation can come within 10 points of the #4 team in the nation. I would have to take my chances in an Elliott Co. vs. Holmes matchup and go with Elliott. -

I personally haven't witnessed a team in the state that could run and gun with Elliott County. Elliott County's entire offensive and defensive midsets are centered around their ability to run and wear teams down. A lot of teams come into games with the thought that they can run with Elliott and win but they can't as evidenced by the Ballard game. Elliott County's conditioning is IMHO by the far the best in the state. We have a motto in Elliott County: "Run to live! Live to run!"
