  1. Coach Thomas loves it at West Jessamine. I talked to him about a month ago and he was telling me that his kids are working really hard right now and preparing for next season. I watched his teams play a couple of times this past year. One thing that I notice about his team when I saw them play is they are great fundamentally sounded playing half court and full court defense. They really get after you! He just doesn't have good talent at the high school level but I've heard they are a couple of young kids coming up, especially a 6th grader that played varsity this year. I talked to him earlier and he told me they have a good little league and AAU programs that he has established at West Jessamine. He is definitely doing the right things at West Jessamine, but it is going to take him a long time to develop some good players. I'm good friends with the boys coach, Damon Kelley, he told me that Coach Thomas works harder than anyone he has ever witnessed. Great Christian guy...... I think he stays at West Jessamine.
  2. Great game and season. But not the best regular season in school history. In I think it was 1971 the Vikings were 11 - 0 for the season, and sometime in the late 70's or early 80's were 10 - 0 or 10 - 1 for the season.
  3. I have talked to Coach Troy Lee Thomas and he isn't going anywhere. He is staying at West Jessamine. I talked to him this afternoon and he told me that he has got to build a program at West Jessamine High School.
  4. so why did Coach Holt resign as basketball coach at Lewis County? Let's get back to the question that sumoroyal posted.
  5. The 12th Region Junior girls were coached by Coach Troy Thomas of West Jessamine High School. I thought he did an excellent job managing the kids today and rotating the players in the right positions. He was dressed in a big time suit today in a suit. Ha! The 12th Region Seniors girls were coached by Scott Bolin of Garrard County. The senior girls had to come back to win. Hard fought ball game for the seniors and but they pulled it through.
  6. I have attended many, many, I mean many clinics over the years and there isn't a better presenter that I have seen like Bobby Knight. He breaks the game into details, for example, he talks about why teams lose. 1. Missing your box out assighnment 2. Poor shot selection 3. Fouling a jump shooter that shoots a bad shot. 4. Throwing the ball away. 5. Missing a defensive assignment. There are several more that he collaborates. Listening to him speak and illistrate on the floor or film room, those are things that a lot of people don't think about. Plus, when you win 3 national championships that is enough said right there. I love to listen to him on ESPN, he just has a different approach to the game than anyone else.
  7. I totally agree with you. You have to be patient and can't get caught up in the microwave world. It's all about what you do at the end anyway. I know the CATS got beat by VMI last year, I just thought they were more aggresive on the defensive end. I know that KY doesn't practice at Rupp everyday but when you got 23,000 people supporting you and making noise, that should make other teams have a tougher time of exucuting. Of course, if you are a team who is used to that and that is mentally tough, all that would do is be a motivator.
  8. Guys! Kentucky doesn't play good half court defense because they just don't work on it like they should. I know it is a totally different style with their offense with penetration and running in transition but they don't play NO half court defense. And let me tell you, they are going to run up against some teams this year that is going to stop their penetration and close out on shooters and stick the ball and if kentucky doesn't work on their half court defense, they will not win the big game that Kentucky fans want. Execution is all about paying attention to details. Right now, Kentucky needs to really work on their half court defense. I know its early in the season, I know that already, but I can say that KY's team last year was a better half court defensive team than they are this year. With Wall, Bledsoe, Patterson, Dodson, Liggens, and more, if those guys would deny the ball and make it hard for teams to pass, you would see a totally different defensive team and they would get more points in transition. Bottom line! For Sam Houston to come in to Rupp Arena and score 92 points, that is bad. I know they won, but there shouldn't be any satisfaction when you let a team score 92 points at your home court and you have BETTER athletes. No way! I don't care who you are, you can't win the big game when it comes down to it.
