  1. Sorry, but it sounds like sour grapes to me. Central beat Trinity so I think the proof is in the puddin'.
  2. Don't really think easy game for either team. Central played horrible against Letcher and still ended up double overtime with a one point loss. They played very well Friday night and offensive line considerably better. Too early to make any predictions.
  3. Madison Central will win if Mercer has as many turnovers as last weekend.
  4. Central started slow and it was obvious nerves were major factor in this game. Didn't look like the same team that beat Bryan Station the week before in scrimmage 18-6. However, I will say that Dominique helped to energize the team and I think the second half speaks to the character of these young men. Two years ago, they would have hung their heads but not on Saturday night. They rose to the challenge and played like true athletes. A loss nonetheless but nothing to be ashamed of. Great game! Looking forward to the future.
  5. Nothing is a done deal. Strong candidates out there and interviews will happen in a couple of weeks due to some school scheduling conflicts. Heard the interview committee is making some reference calls before narrowing down the finalists.
  6. Nope. Position open until after January 4 and then interviews begin. Several good names in the hat from what I hear.
  7. Correct, the post doesn't say that college coaching experience necessary but it would be an asset for those young athletes. Just saying that coaches with college experience (whether coaching or playing) know how to market their athletes and know what it takes to get them to the next level provided they have the potential.
  8. I wouldn't count on any coaches being asked to stay around unless they have some college coaching experience. This has been the problem from what I understand.
  9. Heard same thing and this is good because I heard their freshmen didn't lift weights at all last year.
  10. I really didn't know if Southern could get over the mental hurdle but they did. It was a great game for both teams. However, I was very proud of how the Central team handled the loss and their ability to stay within five points given they have one returning senior. I don't know that it will be a long season as I expect them to only get better as they gain more experience. Personally, I don't think districts will be a repeat loss. If so, it won't be for the next five years afterwards.
  11. Yes, I remember that year. MS had the Stocker player who went to UT on football scholarship and several other talented players. They couldn't pull it off. Talent levels vary this year but it will come down who can outcoach who.
  12. I don't ever count out MC. They are down this year but have a heck of good players on the horizon. Heard that five of the freshmen played in AAU D-II Nationals and took fourth place.
  13. Noticed the thread earlier about playing some 8th graders up. Does playing a middle school athlete up develop or contribute to their offensive game? I can see playing up (maybe) freshman ball but JV and Varsity are on the bubble for me. May be asking too much too soon. Any thoughts?
