  1. FC would not put up big #'s against BG's defense. At most, I think you could count on 21 points. That may be pushing it. BG's defense is pretty solid. They had 2 goal line stands against Trinity Friday night.
  2. Whoa! I didn't think it would be that type of spread.
  3. Ha. We 'actually' beat you guys in 1991 and twice in 1993, as well. And then we beat you in 2000 or 2001 or sometime around there. So, since that 1989 win we have beaten BG a whopping total of 4 times. As I said, we have not had much to get excited about recently. :ohbrother:
  4. Hey PurpleHaze, Warren Central will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 1989 Class 4A state runner up team. I might add a team that beat BG 35-28 at El Donaldson Stadium that year. Just thought I would throw that in there for good measure. Especially since we haven't had much to get excited about recently anyways. And, I didn't know that I took the field at El Donaldson in its 20th anniversary season. I always loved playing in that stadium. El Donaldson and Rash Stadium in O'boro were the two stadiums I liked the most that I played in against KY schools (Evansville Memorial would be far and away number one and Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville would be second). I never got to play in Rhea Stadium in Russellville, but I think that is a nice local stadium, as well.
  5. I think the Rich Pond population that goes to WC will end up at South Warren HS no matter what because that is where the new HS is located. DragonFire is right in saying that the VAST MAJORITY of the new school will be taken from GW's current student population. He is also right in saying that the most interesting decisions will involve the Rockfield area. I have heard everything from they will take all of Rockfield, or maybe 1/2 of Rockfield, or just a little bit, or none at all. If the new HS took ALL of Rockfield it would certainly drop WC to Class 4A. However, it would also take a good chunk of the football team with it. Since the split to form GW in 1990 the Rockfield and Rich Pond areas are where WC has gotten most of their OL, DL, LB, TE types and maybe even the majority of the roster numbers. I would hope that all of Rockfield stays at WC just from a competitiveness standpoint even though it would keep us in 5A. In any scenario, I think the Rich Pond area goes to the new HS, but that group does not have enough in terms of numbers to significantly give a negative impact to the WC roster.
  6. Unforunately I have to agree. I really don't know how that will all play out though.
  7. The way I understand the coaching pay is that it is similar to teachers pay in that the more time you are there the more you make. I don't think that all 3 head coaches in the county make the same amount because some have been coaching longer than others. But they are probably all on the same paying scale. What the numbers are though, I have no idea.
  8. In no way will or should WC limit themselves in the search. That was not implied by anyone here. I simply said that a lot of people here would like to see a hire made to get back to the connections with Hood and Wood. And other WC supporters made the same statement on here so that feeling is out there. There are many coaches who I probably think would be good selections. Griff at BG has been mentioned and I think he would be a good selection. But, I am biased toward Steve because I played on the same teams as he did and I think he would be the best for WC over the long haul. But, limiting the search would be nonsense and something that WC would not do.
  9. As for Steve, I and others hope his chances are very good and would have to think that they would be. It would be great to get back to someone with a connection to Hood/Wood and that is what many here want to see. He played at WC during the above mentioned time period and the fact that he is a college coach now would bring instant credibility, as well. He would definitely help to immediately bring back some of the 'support' that many here have mentioned has diminished from the WC program.
  10. Yes. But, as I mentioned before from the late 1980's to early 90's WC was just as marquee as BG. Both were very good. So, I do think there was a time period where there was at the very least some equality. If anything, I would argue that the WC brand was better then.
