  1. Unfortunately I don’t see it being close. Thinking somewhere along the lines of 12-0. Does anyone know how Trinity pitching staff is shaping up or are their top 2 guys still battling arm injuries?
  2. Was a sloppy game by both teams with a couple unearned runs by both teams which were from pretty easy routine plays. Nerves were definitely present from the beginning it looked like. In saying that I think Danville had 5-6 doubles and a long fly out that may have been out at most HS fields while Beechwood probably had 3-4 balls that would of been. Do believe that was 2 of the best remaining 16 teams after seeing other games yesterday. Think they are both in the top half easily of that 16.
  3. Been playing there over 30-40 years that I know of. Think they just got the taller fences 10 or so years ago, beforehand they were just 3-4’ tall.
  4. If I’m not mistaken there were a bunch of complaints before they hosted, what I assume was their first region tournament, like 10 yesr ago. Believe field got measured by KHSAA officials at 305-335-300 w a 10’ feet all the way around except it’s 12’ in CF. According to KHSAA the height of fence adds like 20 additional feet to their calculations which makes it legal to host regional. In saying all that they haven’t hit this many HRs individually or as a team in awhile for what I can remember so irregardless of field size they must be pretty legit w the bat.
  5. I think you are under valuing Beechwood northern ky opponents. They may not all be top 25 but they are much tougher than most any of the teams in the 16th region. I would venture to guess there would be 5-6 teams in northern ky that would have a shot to win the 16th whereas Rowan is the only team that would pose a serious threat in the 9th.
  6. Ryan Hawks is another candidate I would think. He was Gatorade player of year last year as a junior, committed to UL, more than likely will be highest drafted Ky HS kid and has like 6 no-hitters in his career. I think the thing that separates a player like Castleman or Hawks is they play a lot tougher competition day in and day out than what Rowan faces. Makes Castlemans and Hawks numbers that more impressive.
  7. In fairness to the polls they were voted on before last Tuesday but just released on Friday. Think some teams who are traditionally good got benefit of the doubt on initial poll but now that coaches have some results to go on the polls should start to become a better reflection of true top 25. IMHO the poll will never be as accurate as it could be until more coaches participate in the voting process.
  8. Pretty sure Danvilles best defensive player was out, Christian Hill.
  9. They were in the pre-season top 25 and then stayed a couple of weeks in the top 25 even though there record was like 2-9. I believe their ranking was more because of name tradition than performance. They are just another example of why the baseball top 25 is not up to par with the other sports. Though I do think the baseball poll has come a long way in the past couple of years and the voters around the state are getting it more accurate than they ever have.
  10. No Covington Catholic I would think is rated considerably higher than LCA. LCA record is below .500 even though they did have a nice win over Catholic. This is not the same LCA team that the state has come accustomed to over the past 6 or 7 years.
  11. Two tough draws for Northern Kentucky schools. The 9th region with a possible matchup with Chandler Shephard of LC and with the 10th region facing possibly Central Hardin and Austin Walters. Very intriguing first round matchup with the 6th vs. 11th region as a possible top 10 team will be eliminated early.
  12. There are zero Juco's in Kentucky which leads to less kids going that route over the past several years since St. Catharines went to a four year program. However over the past two years more JUCO programs from Tn, In and IL are coming into Ky to try and find kids.
  13. Any team in this poll will be tough to beat during tournament time, so I am not sure what that has to do with it. Also which team that is ranked ahead of them would you replace with Harrison County? I think Harrison is very good and they did suffer a huge loss with Logan but there is not any team ranked ahead of them that I look at and say yes Harrison is better than that team. Just because Harrison is ranked #12 doesn't necessarily mean anything bad about them but I think people sorely underestimate how good baseball teams are in this state.
  14. What kind of pitcher is Severson? Seems to be pitching really well this year but since I'm not from Northern Kentucky I don't know much about him. Does he rely on velocity or does he mix pitches really well?
  15. Thanks, yes I meant 9th region. They will know play Sayre who upset LCA today 4-3.
