  1. Does anyone know if this game will be televised,if so when and where? Sick that I am out of town and can't make it. Terrible to be "working class"! PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE THE ANSWER...thanks:cry:
  2. Didn't get to see the game but really like some of the CCH kids. How did the Grimes boy do? Are any of the players on either team committed to any colleges yet? Just wondering, would be nice to have some NK players to follow.
  3. Almost too close to make a prediction, but I'm betting on Hicks. They've both been playing some good ball. Tough to beat Conner on their home court and Hicks is a great coach. My feeling is Conner by 3 or 4,maybe even an overtime for this one!
  4. Whatever...The refs in an ideal world might be mature enough not to be on anyone's "side"....Many factors, out of the Ryle players' control, went into the poor play everyone's talking about. Let's continue to downplay Ryle's earlier overtime win against St. Henry. Let's not mention that they did it without their " best senior player". Do these kids ever get credit for anything???
  5. I agree about the fouls called on Ryle, just did'nt want to be accused of whining. They were literally tackled and manhandled under the basket a few times resulting somehow in a jumpball ,with the ball going to the Cru. There are some very nice players on Ryle's team that have been around for long enough for the refs to notice....St. Henry doesn't exactly have the reputation of being a bunch of choir boys. I've only noticed one player on Ryle's team who has shown more than his share of attitude . It seems that often the other team's strategy is to provoke this player into losing his composure and unfortunately , sometimes it works. All part of the game, I guess. Anyhow for the most part all these kids play hard, put in a lot of time, maintain the grades to stay eligible and I say "Congratulations" to all of them. They should be proud of themshelves!!:
  6. I was told by one of the players that it was the coach but don't know what he said . According to this player he didn't use foul language, just questioned a call or something.
  7. Don't understand what Ryle's coach was doing . Coleman and Porter were on fire and he took them out and let them sit for about five minutes, obviously disrupting the momentum of the game. It was early in the game and neither appeared to be tired. Later when Maley appeared to be upset and not playing well at all, he left him in to deteriorate-seems like removing him to allow him to settle down and refocus would have been wise. Of course a technical from the bench didn't help.. Felt badly for players who were playing their hearts out and keeping a straight head, especially senior #21 (Porter). Imo this team could use some mental conditioning. It would have been a tough game no matter what because St. Henry is a good team ,but cooler heads could have made a big difference.
  8. Of course you are right. I just hate to see games like this where things seem to get so out of control. He didn't say it very loud but I quess he was heard. Maybe there are other factors going on behind the scene. Maybe we all need to settle down a bit at these games. I just hope Ryle gets on track, they seem to have a lot of potential and the kids have good chemistry, something that seems to have been a problem in recent past seasons.
  9. I was there and that's the problem, the refs did not control the game well at all. I've seen several poorly officiated games this season, most of them equally bad for both teams, but I must say this was one of the more lopsided games I've seen. I felt badly for Ryle's players and coach. Hicks is a great coach and doesn't need help from the refs. When a player who is always respectful starts to lose control of his emotions,it might be a good indication that there's a problem. I sat on the Conner side of the gym, and even heard comments from fans pertaining to the calls Ryle was getting! Everyone has a breaking point and some refs make it difficult to get the respect of even the nicest players. It looked like Porter tried to question the ref in a calm manner at first but the ref was quick to become offended, then Porter turned around with his hands on his head as though he was trying to control his emotions and said,"that's terrible." It was,in fact,a terrible call. I'm not saying what he did was right, but everyone has a breaking point. I saw one of Conner's players question a call afterward and the same ref talked to him with no retribution whatsoever, not even a warning. It was a rough night for the raiders.Coach Hicks is a great coach and doesn't need favors from officials.
