  1. In the surprised category, how about Estill County. They graduated 11 seniors last year (which is a lot for a school like Estill). This year they had one returning starter on offense and 3 returners on def. They only have 4 seniors on the roster this year. Most prognosticators had Estill winning only a couple of games this year with all that they had lost, but they are still playing and are at 7-4. The season started out rough for the young Neers, but they grew up quick and turned things around to do quite well for themselves this year. Hats off to the boys and the staff in Estill Co.
  2. They lost their entire offense from last years squad to graduation except #10. These guys are improving week after week. Keep up the good work.:thumb:
  3. Offensively they lost 10, but have some very capable young players that are ready to step up. On def. they have 3 returning starters, and one more although he didn't start in every game, he started in a few and saw significant action in all of their games last year would make it 4 returning starters.
  4. Don't know if it's just me or not, but looking at the pictures above does it seem that the filed may be in a flood plain?
  5. Estill didn't run the I, but utilized a VERY ground oriented offense in the double wing and rushed for around 370-380 yards against the Bears.
  6. Congrats, and good luck coach, let's keep the train rolling. Glad to see a very qualified person step in and hopefully build on the successes of the past few seasons and sustain a program that will compete for a district and regional title year after year.
  7. If Poynter was at Trimble for 3 or 4 years, why did he only have 2 assistants and both of them 1st year coaches last year?
  8. The halftime score was 19-7. Estill gets the ball at the beginning of the 3rd quarter and puts together a long drive only to stall out deep in Breathitt territory, dropped a TD pass on 4th down. At the end of the 3rd quarter the score was still 19-7 and then Breathitt went on a 4th quarter scoring frenzy much like in the Harlan County game scoring 20 points in the 4th quarter. Good luck next week Bobcats and great season for the Estill County Engineers!
  9. This ought to be a really good game. Somerset is a quality team and has a great coach. They have plenty of speed and good skilled people. The Engineers better be ready! This one may come down to who has the ball last.
  10. WEEK 2? They better worry about Knott and Knott only right now and that's it! Come Friday night at about 10:30 they then can begin to worry about WEEK 1 of the playoffs, not week 2. Heck, we still don't have a definite on who we will play in the playoffs, we'll have to let them play out and find out who we've got.
  11. Taylor is at 3-1 right now with Jackson Co. remaining on the sched. Somerset is 2-1 right now with Jackson and Casey Cos remaining Wayne is 3-1 right now with Garrard remaining Garrard is 1-2 with Casey and Garrard remaining. One would expect Taylor to finish up in the dist. at 4-1 Somerset should also finish up 4-1 The big game is the Wayne/Garrard game IF Wayne wins they finish 4-1 with a 3 way tie for 1st and Garrard 4th. IF Garrard wins Wayne will end up at 3-2 along with Garrard at 3-2 also. The top two would be Somerset and Taylor at 4-1. This, of course is assuming that Jackson and Casey Co. will not win another district game. You never know what may happen, but it would probably be a safe bet to say that those two will not win thier remaining games in the district?
  12. 265 yards rushing Time of posession 33 or 34 minutes. Defense was great tonight. The offense was efficient, they just shot thierselves in the foot at some very inopportune times on Breathitt's end of the field. 265 on the ground vs. a stingy Breathitt D is not that bad.
  13. How many returning starters does Bourbon have on each side of the ball this year?
  14. Bourbon has a couple of players that are VERY athletic and can score from anywhere on the field. They also have some really good size up front. This should be a good game showcasing two very different types of teams. It should be very interesting, Bourbon Co. is a lot better than people give them credit for and should be greatly improved this year.
  15. How are the 3A teams from dist. 3-5 looking for this upcoming year? Casey, Garrard, Jackson, Somerset, Taylor, and Wayne Counties. Somerset (9-4) had a really good team last year, but with Cole gone, will they be as potent on offense? Wayne 7-4 came in 2nd, Garrard (5-7) came in 3rd, but got a playoff win against Wayne, and Taylor came in 4th at 5-6 but played Garrard and Wayne tough. How many starters does each of these teams have coming back? Will it most likely be the same 4 in the postseason in the same order or will there be some movement by others?
