Transplanted Buckeye looking for a football to throw.
  1. Congrats to PT. They had a good run when it counted. It was an ugly win, but it doesn't matter. They have won the state championship. Congrats to Somerset as well. You made the long trip to state. I know it is no concelation, but you were one of two teams from 3A that made it to the carpet and that is an accomplishment to be proud of. It is something to build on next year. And now all the teams in 3A start a new for 2010. Back to work.
  2. John Hardin can be stopped, if Oldham is willing to make the adjustments to stop them. If all they do is run the wing-t, it requires the defense to stay home and not over pursue. Oldham has a good enough offense to compete, but if they do not make adjustments on defense then John Hardin will move on.
  3. Congrats to Union... They took advantage of mistakes by McLean. It was 6-2 at half.
  4. This game is for all the marbles. Union County and McLean County are both 2-0 in the district. The last couple of years Union County has had McLean County's number. Both teams are coming off of wins in district competition. Union County defeated Webster County 41-6. McLean County beat Paducah Tilghman 28-6. Who brings home the district championship?
  5. PT was ahead 6-0 at half after a special teams miscue set them up deep in McLean territory. It was another special team's miscue, this time by Tilghman that set up the go ahead touchdown in the Third quarter. After an offsides by the punting team the center blew the snap and McLean was able to get the ball deep in Tilghman territory. On a 4-and-11 from about the 20 yard line, Spencer Phillips threw up a prayer on a half-back pass and hit Derrick Hardin in the end zone. The point after was good and it was 7-6 McLean. The next score came in the Fourth quarter on a drive by McLean that was capped by Spencer Phillips running it in from inside the 10 yard line. Extra point was good and the score was 14-6. McLean would pick off a Tilghman pass and run it in for a Touchdown and the extra point made it 21-6. Spencer Phillips would finish the scoring with a twenty yard run for a score with about a minute left in the fourth quarter. The extra point made it 28-6. Tilghman would get a good kickoff return, but on third down Tilghman was picked for the last time and McLean ran out the clock. Tilghman was able to slow McLean's running attack and some costly mistakes almost cost McLean the game. In the end, McLean found a way to win. The district championship is on the line next Friday night in Morganfield as McLean takes on Union County who defeated Webster County this evening.
  6. McLean, coming off two tough losses, take a road trip to face their former coach, Marcus Kimbrell and Daviess County. Daviess County is coming off a tough loss to Owensboro. Who comes out this week with a win?
  7. Congrats to CC! I give them a lot of credit on the win. Good luck the rest of the season.
  8. McLean is 20 minutes South of Owensboro. We did play Mayfield in the playoffs, but that has been about six years ago and we came there. And yes, it does seem like the high school is in the middle of nowhere. Crittenden seems to work from many formations and has a well disciplined team. Berry is there best runner and does a great job. This will be a very tough game for McLean.
  9. Crittenden County has started off well after last year's deep playoff run. McLean County is coming off a tough loss to Allen County-Scottsville. The game will be played at McLean. It has been a couple of years since these rivals have played each other. Who wins this game Friday?
  10. Allen County-Scottsville was dominate. Will have more information later. Congrats to the Patriots.
