  1. I'm going to be honest here... this is embarassing. I played for Wburg and graduated in 2007 and I have to say this is not a score I would have ever expected. We beat Middlesboro in 05 and 07 to go to sectionals and It seems like Wburg should have held up a little bit better than this!
  2. I would think North and South Laurel should be there along with Bell Co. and Knox Central and Corbin. not in that order, but all have good teams coming back.
  3. Condgradulations to Hedrick, good ball player, he really has improved over the years and wants to win.
  4. Teh Seniors play at South Laurel and Juniors at North Laurel at 1pm this Sunday.Would be nice if they had one game and then played the other one so people could watch both games.
  5. Hedrick from Corbin made it and Hamlin from Corbin and Witt and Root from Williamsburg, but I don't know who else made it.
  6. i honestly cant believe that North Laurel scored this many runs off of a decent pitcher and a solid defense and im also surprised that Middlesboro didnt score more runs. They have one of the best hitting teams in the region but i guess it just goes to show u that a good defense is what wins you baseball games. Congradulations North... we know u will represent the 13th region well.
  7. Anyone know who made their region's All Star Team (not all tournament team) and when these games will be played?
  8. It will be a close one with North Laurel having the luxery to pitch Sean Evans, but harlan is a good baseball team and can hit the ball fairly well. I look for Harlan to pull this one out by 2 runs... no more.
  9. where can u find a list of the people who made these teams?
  10. Their Coaches pick the team Whitley and Williamsburg got one each Root of Williamsburg and Rose for Whitley. Three from Corbin, Hedrick, Stevens and Hamlin. South got four, Cochis, Smith and the kid who was the starting pitcher against Corbin and I don't remeber the #4 hitters name but he made it as well.
  11. Again Volfan I agree with you, I was around all the kids on this team. Hurst would be better at 2B and Shelley the outfield, but when you have a small school you get what you get and you have to make it work for the best, the kids tried their best. I had a son who used to play at teh Burg and he would have been better off some place else, but he had to play at a position to help the team, actually Root was the best catcher and third baseman, but I don't think his parents wanted to clone him so coach Striklin had no choice other than play him at catcher and let Hurst play third. The only ones not coming back I have heard are Brock who hardly played and could not play anywhere otehr than CF due to bad jumps on the ball, and Dobek who is moving to Florida. The others graduated. So I don't think the witch hunt should happen, Williamsburg should spend some money on the baseball field, which was hard as a rock. Just ask the kids form Corbin and South Laurel if they liked it, it has horrible hops, the baseball team couldn't hardly get in a gym to have practice when it rained. I know some people felt Teague should have played more but the kid hit probably under .200 for the season. Conlin had his moments as well. But those kids will come back and I heard Abner was coming back next year as well. Maybe if the other sports coaches would allow them to play summer ball it would help the baseball team. Cause they want them for football and basketball and Coach Stricklin had to suffer and not have them, cause his sport was further awy from starting the next school year. There is the real problem at WHS as I see it.
  12. Have to agree with you volfan, Root plays his heart out and Witt is about the same they were the types of leaders a team needs, and will be sorely missed next year. Big shoes to fill, but if their Coach stays and I heard he might leave, then this would be a Bigger blow for this team. Shelley is a pretty good pitcher, and the Moses boys are pretty talented, but what else do they have?
  13. No Smith is just that good, Whitley was down this year and Smith was in a grove and the umpire was a little generous with his strike zone and Smith did a better job taking advantage of it than Whitley's pitchers.
