  1. We shall see...they have three chances left. You already seem to have your mind made up from your earlier posts. Did tonight's game give you some hope?????? It sure didn't help their confidence. Very wet and ugly. Lincoln had one long run for 61 yards. Other than that I think their longest gain was a roughing the kicker call against Meade Co. This games over...now time to start thinking about next week. I hope they get that first district win.
  2. The latest from the Advocate Messenger... Prep Football: Lincoln wants to play By HAL MORRIS hmorris@amnews.com October 2, 2009 STANFORD — The postponement of tonight’s Lincoln County-Pulaski County football game could mean a forfeit for the Patriots if a resolution is not reached. All extracurricular activities were called off after school was closed for the rest of the week in Lincoln County on Tuesday when flu-like symptoms caused mass absences in the district. But Lincoln coach Mike Settles wants to get the game played, and said Thursday night that he offered a scenario to Pulaski in which Lincoln would play three games in eight days just to get the Pulaski game in. Lincoln plays South Laurel and Pulaski plays Mercer County on Oct. 23. Pulaski then has an open date Oct. 30. Settles proposed moving the Pulaski game to Oct. 28, then playing the Patriots season finale against Garrard County on Oct. 31, which he said Garrard had agreed to. “I played high school football in Illinois, and for many years the first round of the playoffs was on a Wednesday, and the second round was the following Saturday,” he said. “That was a tradition for over 20 years.” However, Settles said Pulaski coach John Hines would not agree to that scenario. Pulaski athletics director Randy Elmore said he feels for Lincoln, but he also doesn’t want his team to have to play two games in a week. “You know how it is with football. You play Friday, and you rest Saturday and Sunday, and usually take Monday off,” Elmore said Thursday night. “We just felt like that wasn’t a good scenario for the safety of our kids. We didn’t want to put anyone in danger of getting hurt or re-hurt. A lot of our kids go both ways, and it’s just kind of a tough scenario. “I sympathize with them. It’s out of (the team’s) hands.” What makes the situation difficult is the fact the game is a district game, and had playoff implications. Friday’s game was to be Pulaski’s Class AAAAA, District 7 opener. South Laurel and Southwestern are each 1-0, and Lincoln is tied for fourth in the district with Mercer County at 0-1. A forfeit would hamper the Patriots’ chances of a playoff berth. “This game could decide first second, third and fourth in our district,” Settles said. Settles said he felt Lincoln has “bent over backwards to help the situation. But unfortunately, the don’t want to go with what we’ve come up with.” Lincoln contacted the Kentucky High School Athletic Association on Thursday to help with the situation, but never heard back from assistant commissioner Julian Tackett. Settles planned to contact the KHSAA and Pulaski again this morning. “If I was ever in their situation, I would find a way to make it work,” Settles said. “You talk about one game in a season, that’s 10 percent of a season, the kids have worked too hard to not get to play that game.” Elmore said Thursday if a date can’t be agreed upon, “I guess we just count it as a forfeit (against Lincoln).” Settles is worried his team could be forced to forfeit. “I don’t feel this situation, with the extenuating circumstances, deserves a forfeit. But we may be forced into it based on what the KHSAA does,” the Lincoln coach said. “The KHSAA, I hope, would find a way to make this game happen. “We thought we had the best solution possible. There was no way we could have moved it anywhere else.” Copyright: AMNews.com 2009
  3. Marion County has outscored opponents 176-27 over the last three games. Twenty of those 27 were to Bardstown. They seem to be firing on all cylinders right now and I cannot see Mercer slowing them down much unless they come out and play differently than they have all year thus far. Marion by at least three touchdowns.
  4. The "deal" is that Lincoln staff has been told the game is still on as scheduled. They have not been able to practice but once this week due to the fact that school has been cancelled. Is it fair to those kids to be made to play without any practice??? Absolutely not in my opinion...but guess what??? My opinion does not count. As it stands...at least here in good ole Stanford KY, is that the game is on. Good luck Patriots.
  5. The game is on as scheduled according to reports from Lincoln County about an hour ago.
  6. I hope to see the Patriots get the win Friday night. I believe they will come out and show much more drive and emotion than they did early on this past Friday at Rockcastle. Good luck Patriots and give it your all every single play. Lincoln 35 Washington 14.
  7. Congratulations to the Patriots on their first win of the season. They look much improved and dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Huge play tonight from Vinnie Morris. He picks up the fumble and rumbles down the field for the touchdown!! You've got to love to see a lineman score. He gets my vote for player of the game. Again...way to go Pats!!!:ylsuper:
  8. Lincoln will make the necessary corrections from their first game. Untimely penalties and nerves I think contributed to the loss. The defense will step it up and I think we should win by at least two touchdowns. Go Patriots!!! It's time to turn things around. :taz:
  9. Lincoln hosts Madison Southern. Neither team has won yet. Lincoln lost to East Jessamine this past Friday night while Madison Southern has had an extra week to prepare since their close loss to West Jessamine. Which team will come out on top in this one?
  10. Lincoln should have all but one lineman back. He may be out 8 weeks according to what was aired on the radio yesterday. Lincoln has also had two weeks to recover from that scrimmage so they will have had plenty of time to learn from any errors. East Jessamine ran the ball 95% of time against Spencer County and came up just short. I do not think East can rely on running the ball alone against Lincoln. Lincoln's run defense will be too tough. I like Lincoln by 2 TD's at home in DEATH VALLEY!! Go Patriots.
  11. Maybe Matney is just sore that the last time he coached against French he lost the Regional title to Lincoln back in 2007...
  12. Thanks so much...great information. Hope this becomes regular reading. Can't wait for another Friday Night!!!:dancingpa
  13. I would agree that the Anderson County exposed a lot of issues but that is what it was for. They at least know where they need to improve. The Patriots may not see another quarterback throw the ball as well as Jake Russell from Anderson did last week. He is a senior and a four year starter. He threw the ball wherever he wanted. He has a bright future in football if he wanted I would expect. Coach Settles will use this week and next to get the Patriots ready.
  14. East Jessamine plays Spencer County this week. I am waiting to see how that one plays out before making too bold of a prediction either way. Spencer County is supposed to have a taleneted front line. East Jessamine's coach said in the Jessamine Journal the other day that this may be his most talented team. That being said this Friday nights' game should shed some light on how tough an opponent East will be at Death Valley. If all the kids are healthy, Lincoln's line should hold their own. They have a lot more speed in the backfield this year. As a Patriot fan I hope they win the Death Valley Bowl. History, however is not on their side. Good Luck Patriots!!!!
