10 Good
  1. Should have been 35 to 7 in one of the most bizzare calls from officials I have ever seen in the 1st quarter. Boden catches a pass from Samad (no contact before the catch) the defender was 5 yards away from him, after the catch Boden tried to stiff arm the defender and then he rambles into the endzone, fumbles the ball , two yards AFTER he crosses the line, it was picked up by Ryle and advanced to 10 yard line. The call : Pass interference on the offense.... Raider ball!!! Not enough coffee for the Zebras this morning on that one..... Good game again from Champ (2 tds) also nice catches from Gill and Boden. Samad throwing some really nice balls today, and scrambling when it is there for him. Very heady QB with athleticism for a Soph. This JV squad is gaining confidence and there are very fun to watch. Defense played another solid game. DT Utz with some nice stops today. And very good pass coverage on the 3rd down plays. Vargo with a nice interception and run back to the one yard line. More fans should come to the Saturday games this is a very entertaining JV sqad that plays together and for each other.
  2. Yes... Aaron Stevens....He hit one from 53 yards in practive this week with room to spare...amazing leg from someone that is rail thin...
  3. I don't think your comment is rude at all. Conner has had a very rough transition this year so far with the new Coach. It had to be done. But, it should have been done about 3 years ago. It remains to be seen if Coach Trosper can fix all that is wrong, and has been wrong for a while now. He has made some positive strides, losing some players along the way, some of those logged several minutes playing time. I am curious to see how things progress if we can stomach all the losses. Pugh is a decent back with good size for a soph. West is a good soph QB but, hopefully these guys are getting coached up because they have the potential to much much better. Samad is another Soph QB that runs the JV. He sees the field very well and maybe more acurate than West. But to his credit he gets much more from his O line than West. Which is puzzling. Conner also has a skinny Soph, but big legged kicker, in Stevens. There are more "players" that should be contributors but as someone else pointed out they may lose to the new school.
  4. Thrilling JV game today at Dixie! Down to the last second. Conner 21 Dixie 18. Conner had to dig deep today to pull this one out. Dixie kept Conners offense in check for most of the game. The Defense couldn't keep Dixie out of the endzone with 1 minute to play even though the D played pretty tough all game. The Offense moved the ball down the field only to throw what seemed to be the game killer interception. Dixie with the ball only needed to run the clock out. Conner had all of their time outs. And Dixie ran running plays instead of taking a knee. Dixie fumbles the ball and Brady Fogle from Conner comes up with it. Conner has the ball with 20 seconds to go. after a couple of plays Samad hits Eric Champ with a big strike in stride for the winning touchdown with seconds to go. The defense tackles Dixie after a series of laterals ....ball game. A very well coached game and this JV team really plays well together and FOR each other. They did NOT get down, they did NOT give up. They showed poise and confidence and didn't fight with each other when they got down. They rolled up their sleeves and went to work and I tell you what the crowd REALLY appreciated seeing the effort of the whole team today to get this win. THE CONNER VARSITY SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE TO WITNESS WHAT TEAMWORK DOES!!!! THIS IS WHAT CONCENTRATION AND PLAYING FOR EACH OTHER MEANS...... Great Job and Great GAME by the JV squad and coach!!! Congratulations!!
  5. Congratulations to Dixie for a fine win. They got on track in the second half. Very good adjustments at halftime. The game was close in the first half 13-6 Dixie. Two field goals by soph Aaron Stevens for Conner and two touchdowns for Dixie and a muffed XP. In the first half Dixies QB and receivers werent in synch and there were a lot of combinations of bad tosses and drops. Conners O continues to stall in the red zone. Bright spot Austin Pugh continues to have a decent running game. Some tough yardage runs by Brann and some nice runs also by Englemon. Champ and Boden with a few nice catches. The Conner soph QB West got very frustrated last night in the second half with poor execution, untimely penalties, along with the lack of blocking and protection in the second half. He needs to keep his head up and keep working. The Defense played decent but again was on the field way too much in the second half due to the Os miscues and mistakes. Dixie has a fine team. Their O line gave the QB all the time he needed last night to pass and after he got on track in the second half both he and the receivers picked Conner apart. Their D coverage had holes but Conner couldnt take advantage. What frustrated me was the lack of down the field attempts by Conner when the opportunity was there and there were several after they got down by two scores. I believe Conner could have kept the score much closer if they continued to pound the run with Pugh and Brann but I doubt those two and the line could have kept it up the whole game. Again take nothing away from Dixie as the score indicated they are a good football team they played a great game. The long season continues for Conner. Keep your heads up Cougars!
  6. Good call..Cats5262..... thank you......I forgot about that one.... .too many highlights.... too little memory.... there is another touchdown and I couldnt remember who had that one.....
  7. There are only two seniors playing JV due to their very limited Varsity roles.....the rest of the 6-8 seniors you mentioned as playing JV is just not true....they declined to play JV..... I guess they would rather sit then play down.... The Conner Varsity does indeed have a bunch of underclassmen talent. The JV still has good talent.
  8. and like I said......in response to "stayinline" Campbell Co was penalized the most for unsportsmanlike conduct so one would think CC has the problem not Conner.... and as another person said in this thread Coach Trosper will not put up with it from his players.....plain and simple...
  9. well I know what I saw......and I saw the zebras talking to the Camels way more than they were talking to the Cougars when a flag was thrown.......and by the looks of the body language they weren't talking about eating wings at BWs after the game....
  10. Campbell Co. draws first blood in this rematch and goes up 6 -0 after the extra point is blocked. Cougars O takes a little bit to get on track partly due to the Camels showing a gutsy first half of defense. QB Samad for Conner scattered the ball around to several receivers Gill, Bowden, with receiving touchdowns and Champ scored 2 rushing TDs as the O gets 5 touchdowns today. (I am leaving someone out, can't remember sorry) The Defense had a forced fumble recovery, 2 interceptions (Barb 1) and Culp (1). JT races 70+ yards on a tipped pass and some great blocking along the way to a final cut back inside for the score. Final Score Conner Cougars 39 Campbell Co. 6
  11. and two of those flags were against Campbell in the same play!!! Campbell Co had the upper hand on the "unsportsman like" penalties last night not Conner. CC players were running their mouths on every play. Conner should learn to ignore it. The frustration for Conner is mostly due to the play of the O line or the lack of it. The Defense kept Conner in the game until late, but 3 and out by the offense on about every series kept the Cougar D on the field way too many times. note: There are plenty of players on the sidelines.... use them every now and then.....a couple of plays every series or every other series can help the starting d go further in the game.... Two or was it three interceptions thrown in the endzone by Conner during decent drives killed any momentum Conner built. The young QB for Conner needs to stay positive. If we can get the line to block for the entire game they have a chance. Conner also had several deep routes open last night but the QB couldnt see them. Sophomore Pugh is Conner's only bright spot in the backfield. Engleman (sp?) can't seem to use his speed either due to him not having any blocking or he isnt using the blocks he does get. Congratulations to the Camels on the win. You capitalized on Conner mistakes and made them pay. But Campbell Co. isn't even close to being the team they were last year at this point of the season.
  12. I posted this on another thread.....but here is my opinion on your question... Head Coach has alot to overcome.......but it is true that the Sophomore class has some talent and a few Juniors as well. The Senior class has a few players but for the most part the class as a whole has not stepped up. The O line stands straight 50% of the time or more.....and give the Sophmore QB little or no time to use his very capable arm. We have no dependable upper classmen Running backs that are bruisers or with speed and the line gives them very little holes to run through. The receivers are still missing routes and rarely come back to the QB when he is in trouble. The option, which is something apparently the coach has used at other schools does not set up well with this team and is executed poorly so far. Unless guys start clicking and doing the work....this is going to be another very dismal season for the Cougars. They do not appear to be be able to play agressive enthusiastic football with all 11 players at the same time, and that makes it difficult to dig yourselves out of a hole and build on the season. In my opinion the school has been in a downward spiral for about 3 years. There are many reasons other than athletes or the lack of. Conner is a big school population wise, but it is over crowded and under managed, some groups do decent jobs but there is not a "togetherness" between all of them. That being said......Schools that are not 'powerhouses" and are run poorly have bigger lows in their "peeks and valleys" and take the biggest hits when there are down. This is definately a down trend for Conner and only time will tell if they can utilize the young talent to get them out of it. I don't see things changing in a week so my prediction: Campbell Co. 28 Conner 7

  14. agreed: Conner did move the ball but and if that had caught a few more or had a big block here or there they would have had a better chance.....agreed: also that there may have been some calls here or there...coach seemed to be very irritated at times as was working the refs hard on some calls. I usually am not a complainer about the zebras especially in a 50-1 game......but I will say this...you don't think you are going to drive 4 hours away from home to a game with a team that was beat in a close game last year by a team from NKY that won State and not get a few "homer" calls do you? I'm not saything that......... I'm just saying........... :-)
  15. Also I forgot to mention that the announce at the JV game for the Camels gave a very nice shout out for Bluegrass Preps Website. A very nice gesture, I am not sure if that was arranged or not..... BGP should know that is was a nice plug. I am a fan of this site as well as the occasional poster...and it was a great idea to get the name of the site out there....I have not heard it done at games before..
