    Yonder Alonso Demoted to AAA

No surprise. He wasn't going to place first and he probably can't play left.

He has to be trade bait now that Votto is signed for a few years.

I would keep him in AAA one more season and see if he can stay healthy for a whole minor league season and see what kind of numbers he puts up...This gives the Reds insurance as well for one more season should Votto get the injury bug...I think his trade bait stock would sky rocket if he could finish an entire year at AAA...

What would the Reds be looking to get in the way of a trade that they can afford? Alonso is too valuable to just give away. Imo he is going nowhere but to Louisville for now.

    How long is "for now?"

I would think that if he had any LF skills he would be on the big club this year.

Maybe he will go to Louisville and play some left field. If he's gonna improve his OF skills, Louisville is the place to do it.

Correct. I guess it will be telling as to their plans for him based on where they have him play in Louisville.

He's still a young man. It would be nice if he could be an average fielder then put his bat in the line-up. With Stubbs and Bruce out there, he shouldn't have to cover a lot of ground.

If the Reds are serious about keeping him in the system then it can't be "some." It has to be every day plus off days with an instructor.

Can he be any worse than what we had with Dunner? I think he can be as adequate as Gomes if given a chance to work on it everyday.

I don't understand why he hasn't spent more time at 3rd base?

Hopefully he'll spend the year in left field in Louisville.

Will he ever be as productive as Dunn?

In some people's eyes on here you were more productive than Dunn. I never understood why some fans didn't like him.

I don't think that he will ever hit anywhere near the HRs that Dunn did but he might become a 100 rbi guy and hit for a good average with 20-25 HRs. The question was could he be any worse defensively than Dunn? I don't think the Reds are looking for him to be a Dunn type but if he could outproduce Jonny Gomes and play a decent LF he could help this team.
