    Classic Baseball Fight

Warning: If fighting in sports is something that you do not like you'll probably want to pass on this thread.

The above was a classic fight. Any time it spills into the dugout it's a big one.

Wasn't that a close-up on Arthur Rhodes at about 2:50?

I never liked Ray Knight. This made it worse.

I always hated whn managers wore a watch with their uniform. Stupid I know, but it bothered me.

Not really fair that fans get arrested, while the players literally beat the hell out of each other in front of everyone and just get ejected.

Arthur was holding Martinez back for a while.

I know a lot of people say we need to remove this from baseball...but I love it.

As a player if you don't want to get involved in the fight for the fear of injury (or because you're worried what your kid will still be emotional distraught by it 9 months later)...then the answer is simply don't instigate one by talking trash, throwing at a batter, or running out onto the field to jump in.

I was watching that game as well. Good one. Reds had some fighters on that team including the crazy man John Denny. I'll take Ronnie Oester on my team anytime a fight breaks out.

This was the game where in the 9th the Mets kept switching their pitchers between the mount and right field if I remember correctly.

The Reds and Mets battled a few times back in the 80s. I had tickets to the Saturday night game but didn't make it that night. What did I miss? Browning plunking Tim Tuefel and Strawberry charging him from the bench. Oh yeah, Pete Rose went after the umpire at first base and Marty and Joe incited a riot.

A couple that come to mind that I wish I could find video:

Reds/Cubs at Wrigley around '84. Soto involved. I think it had to do with a fair/foul call on a home run. He somehow ends up taking down Zimmer.
Reds/Braves. A Reds pitcher hit a Braves batter intentionally and then went right to home plate to fight the guy.
Brewers/Mariners. Huge fight that seemed to never end. I think Tracy Jones was involved.

The umpire held Davis and Knight got a free shot on him. What a woman..
