  1. The NKOA gives on the job training to new officials, shares learning resources, mentors, and coach rather than chastise. They are very interested in the success of new officials. Every game film your team has on huddle, the NKOA also has on theirs. They review, peer evaluate, and learn from errors . They cover the official's field position, their mechanics, and teach from these as does your high school coach. As a new official, you start out by shadowing a more experienced official starting in scrimmages and build your way up to Friday night lights, In NKY, there are opportuniti

  2. Generally speaking, if they have started a running clock in the first half, Cov Cath will keep starters in through the first series of the second half. I think the general assumption is that the reason for doing that is to make sure starters are keeping their gametime endurance up to snuff, and make sure that they're prepared to come out from the break at half and continue producing in the second half. I agree with TheDeuce about not running trick plays to try to rack up more points though. Running clock or not, there just isn't a good way to simulate real gametime pressure and the kind

  3. Should be a great game between two physical teams who like to get after and have some nastiness to them. I like Ryle in this one by 7 - 10 points and expect Ryle to maintain their stellar defensive play - when looking at the 3 common opponents Dixie has given up 66 points and Ryle 27. Ryle's issue moving the ball has come in the form of false start penalties when they play clean they are able to move the ball and have in every game but St X and have some good athletes on that side of the ball as well. Dixie has a lot of weapons (Landers, Holbert, Hawkins and Rohlman if healthy) and a sti

  4. Always read Jeff Sagarin ratings in USA Today and Litkenhous Ratings in Courier-Journal in study hall which was in library so could access those papers. So I've always liked seeing all the power ratings there are and when Litkenhous Ratings went away I wanted to bring back something similar and thanfully excel makes it manageable to do. Without excel would take many hours to calculate manually and too much time to do it. Football is easy since they play once a week. I wouldn't want to try and tackle basketball for the whole state since so many games. I do 6th and 7th Regions in basketball sinc

  7. Forget the hot seat... what coaches are having a great season? A couple that come to mind.... Dennis Johnson, Woodford Hunter Cantwell, CAL Happy for both of those guys. And, they would be the first to give credit to their players and assistant coaches. That is how football works. And.... good grief.... Mark Stoops has done a super job at UK. I'm also big fans of Nick Saban, Bill Belichick, & Neal Brown. All three lost this weekend. All three are still great coaches that know how to win and run programs. MOST of the time wh

  9. He was fine being racist. They were going to let that slide. The question I have is who did he upset to have this info leaked? It came from the investigation of the Washington Football Team but we all know that his emails aren’t the only ones like this. He isn’t a unicorn. I want to see what the other 650,000 emails say. Will we find out what those emails said as well? Also, knowing what we know now how long has the NFL sat on these emails? We know they knew what he said in there.

  10. I'm taking LCA by 7-10. Hergott might be the single most impactful player on the field and the catalyst for everything Beechwood does. He's got a great supporting cast, but if you minimize his effectiveness (easier said than done), in what other ways can the Tigers hurt you? We have yet to see that scenario play out to provide an answer. LCA has more to work with. If you scheme to minimize Xavier Brown, who accounts for Drew Nieves and Mason Moore? Or Jeremiah Riffle, especially if he's on the field together with Brown? So many options for Coach Charles to choose from. I think he ge

  13. You're correct, South has not faced a power offense, besides Hendersonville. However, I can only compare stats that are out there with common teams. The closest comparison that can be made is how well South did against Central vs other KY teams. South's defense was comparable to Trinity and Dupont Manual's against Central's offense. South held Gibson Southern to 5 rushing yards. They average around 170 per game. They also held them to 92 pass yards, when they average about 300. Granted, they are a smaller school from Indiana. North Hardin played against South and Boyle county. South'

  19. There were A LOT of older helmets and equipment that should have been replaced before it actually was. However, all of the equipment that was given to players was safe and certified. Was it top of the line like Coach Mueller always insisted on having? No. But by no means was it unsafe. It just wasn’t up to the quality that HHS players of the past were used to. It 100% should have been handled differently and I know for a fact there were opportunities for it to be replaced in a cost effective and proper manner but those opportunities were not taken advantage of… I’ll leave it at that.

  20. Boyle thinner in spots than they have been in the past. But the Oline and Dline have played well. A couple of friends of mine asked me if I thought Boyle could win it again this year and my answer then was that I didn't think they could. Not for lack of effort or coaching. Just thought we were lacking a couple of key players on both sides of the ball this year. But I've changed my mind. I do think they can. I just think there is less room for error. If Boyle can get to the 4th round, from then on if they have a bad game I don't think they can overcome it. Just less room for error. Bu

  21. I picked Tilghman because: 1. I like their program better. 2. I like @TilghmanPride. 3. Tilghman has played a much tougher schedule. 3. I think Tilghman is coming on and improving, and 4. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, especially playing at home. That being said, from what I've gathered above, Union County is a hard nosed team with a stout wrestling background/conditioning program and they have some 5th year seniors, so I'm not calling for a running clock, but I do think Tilghman can eke out a win here. And Union County's only loss was to Caldwell Co

  22. Aaron Rodgers on Joe Burrow from si.com: "I'm a Joe Burrow fan, I enjoy the way he goes about his business. I enjoy the way he plays with confidence," Rodgers said. "I will tell you the thing that I told him, which I've told other quarterbacks from time to time: slide. I said you're 'too damn talented. You got so much in front of ya to accomplish in this league, just sometimes you gotta slide.'"

  25. A little of both. Injuries have hurt along with eligibility. Running game is pretty much non-existent though the guys that have given it a go do their best. Offensive line play not bad with exception of one position that if change made would result in more success in my opinion. Receivers are solid and QB is often best athlete on the field. Defensively the line play has been pretty solid, but need to abandon 3 man front imo. Linebacker play is weak spot in my opinion. Need to play faster and tackle better in space. Defensive back play kind of like linebacker in the need to tackle bet

  31. If Gruden had actually beat up his wife, been in a DUI accident, sexually assaulted numerous women or become a addicted to drugs instead...there is a good chance the NFL would have looked the other way, based on the leagues past history. I'm not defending Gruden, just calling out the NFL's hypocrisy.

  33. I'm curious what your hallmarks for "improvement" are if you're saying our passing game showed no improvement in Pitzer's first two games. Pitzer stacks like another 25% onto Holtz's average passing yardage per game in those two games, he almost doubles his average on touchdown passes, and his pass receptions averaged out for 27% more yardage than Holtz's. That, and he wasn't intercepted in either game. I'm not trying to rag on Holtz here, and I realize Pitzer wasn't perfect, but man, you're a tough guy to please. Week after week you whine about play calling and the fact that you thought we

  37. Nick Kemp at Graves County has had a pretty good start to his head coaching career. Took over as an interim under pretty bad circumstances and has produced. Graves was a top 10 team in 5A last year and many thought they would regress a lot this season and they are sitting at 6-1 ranked #5 in the AP and #7 on Bluegrass Preps.

  38. Justin Haddix - Boyle County Lost over 75% of his offensive production and had to replace several starters on O and D. Lost Jeff Hester as his DC and had to bring in several other coaches to help out this season. Other than a 1 TD loss to a very good LCA team he has the Rebels rolling as usual. I even heard that there were teams that opted not to play the Rebels this year which speaks volumes to what he has been able to do with a great program in just two seasons.

  40. It was mainly around 4 to 5 originally. They did have fill ins from time to time but mainly it was the originals. Each had 2 jugs and the story I was told it was top secret as to how many pennies the lead jugger placed in each jug to get that one of a kind sound. As years went by they slowly left and fizzled out as time went by. They had Black and Gold top hats (Cat in the hat liked) and would be the first ones in the stands away or home to get good seats. They where at the Pikeville game in 1999 and Paducah Tilghman in 2001. Where ever the Rebels where the Juggers where there also.
