  1. Wow, in the 14 minutes between the post you quoted and your own post, you were able to check with every single Beechwood parent to see whether or not they had said that? Color me impressed!

  2. Horrible quality but the first Norm MacDonald joke I remember. I was a freshman in high school and was allowed to stay up and watch Saturday Night Live for the first time in my life. Norm was the best.

  3. The only time it's not acceptable for seniors to play JV, IMO, is when those same seniors are getting time on Varsity.

  4. Just compared Beechwood's 2020 KHSAA roster to their 2021 KHSAA roster. Assuming that information is correct and up to date, it looks like Beechwood only has one repeating senior, but 8 total players taking advantage of re-do years. All had impact roles on the 2020 state championship team. Landon Aylor (WR/DB) - Currently repeating junior year - Games played: 2019 (8); 2020 (12); 2021(3) Xavier Campbell (OL/DL) - Currently repeating sophomore year - Games played: 2019 (12); 2020 (12); 2021 (4) Carson Craycraft (WR/DB) - Currently repeating junior year - Games played: 2019

  5. According to a Jason Frakes Louisville Courier Journal September 11th article, Male's game at John Curtis High School in New Orleans has been canceled as of last Friday. In the article, Covid-19 concerns on top of the recent Hurricane Ida aftermath made the game "impractical" according to Male AD John Kelsey. John Curtis has yet to play a game this season due to the Hurricane and currently doesn't have a facility to play a game along with the fact that Male would have a difficult time finding hotel rooms that now hurricane responders need.. Male is searching for a new opponent to fill t

  7. Henry Clay just canceled on Frederick Douglass. They posted it on KHSAA web site several hours ago. They still have not contacted or confirmed with Douglass however. That’s pretty bush league imo

  8. I have no problem with it either. None. Not all kids are cut out to play varsity sports. Some still choose to put in the time on the team all the same, and more power to them. Just because a player is a senior does not automatically entitle a kid to be on the varsity field. If their coach wants to put those seniors in on JV to give them the opportunity to still actually play the game, I've got no beef with that whatsoever.

  9. I'm hearing that his story it was time to move forward in a different direction. No details provided. He does still teach in Ft Thomas. The Kids love him at Johnson as the Gym teacher.

  11. Little midweek comic relief. I guess the offensive success the varsity has been displaying hasn't matriculated down to the JV squad yet. I guess it's better than a tie. But just barely.

  12. This thread is completely awesome in so many ways. Thank you to so many for being who you are. You provide endless comedy throughout the week! Beechies - 35 Colonels - 17 Accept it. Beechwood is a better team on paper this year. IMO, they would be without Hergott returning. He is no doubt a difference make but this Beechwood Senior Class is loaded. Take away a wide left FG last year and BW wins, and returns much more than CovCath. Good luck to both teams Friday. Some great kids on both sidelines. Ft Mitchell will be electric, and I love it for all the kids to experience after th

  13. Northington's availability is of paramount importance to Manual's chances here. He basically was the offense against La Salle last season, accounting for about 90% of Manual's yards. He's good enough to at least keep them in the game if he's healthy. A low scoring game like last year is probably Manual's best chance at victory. I can't see them keeping pace in a shootout. Pulling for the Crimsons, but picking the Lancers.

  15. Does Beechwood having so many kids reclassify give them an advantage for this year, but also for the next few years? Absolutely! Is Beechwood just doing by rule what they are allowed to do? Absolutely! Was the majority of schools in the state given the same opportunity, and could have taken advantage of it too? Absolutely! Are people allowed to say that it gives Beechwood an advantage the next few years having so many players reclassify? Absolutely, because it is true it definitely is an advantage, and will probably be mentioned the next few years. Should Beechwood and

  17. Five years ago my dad did what we were all designed to do. I miss him greatly. Here is a picture of him on the sand dunes in Michigan City, Indiana, circa 1976. A purist would criticize this, saying his right arm should be tucked in closer to his body in a fighting stance. He considered himself somewhat of a rebel in those days.

  19. Typical beechwood fan. I ask a legitimate football question and you want to know about something that is private. You guys crack me up. Just because you need seniors to beat sophomores by one TD it’s all good.

  20. I agree with this practice. I may have been harder on it in the past but again I agree seniors that don't get any varsity time should definitely be allowed to play JV.

  22. I’m sure it was a planned event with family and friends in attendance. He supposed to NOT propose now just because his team is crappy as hell? Had they won we’d never know about the proposal. The only reason it even made social media rounds is because the football meatheads couldn’t believe he had the audacity to propose on the field after losing to an FCS team and tried to ruin his moment. Let that man live. He ain’t bothering anyone.

  23. Willie should have gotten more time, but I also think it was highly doubtful he was going to turn it around. His one ace was supposed to be recruiting and his failure to bring in a QB was alarming. Norvell has gotten lucky with the transfer portal and current rules, which allowed him an avenue to rapidly improve. The sad thing is that Norvell will get more time in all likelihood, and if results remain the same, there will be a heck of a lot of subtext that will be very, very ugly when comparing the two. The most charitable assessment I would be able to give that decision would be that

  28. I don’t know how you match the excitement of the games from last night but I think the Challenge Cup has done just that. The undercard match @ 6pm #11 Manual vs #20 Dunbar We have 2 teams that are only 1 game over .500, granted all of their losses are against Top 10 Ky Maher Ranked teams. I see this being a very evenly matched game. The “Prime Time Event” what everyone in soccer world was hoping to see. #1 vs #2. @ 8pm #1 NDA vs #2 Sacred Heart I don’t know if the tournament just wanted to MAKE sure this match up happened so they pit these 2 against each other

  29. Male was up 12-0 in 3rd quarter and looked like was going to cruise to victory and then the wheels came off with Trinity scoring 28 unanswered points. Trinity was aided by Male QB throwing 4 interceptions with one a pick six that ignited the Trinity comeback. Male scored a late TD with less than a minute in 4th quarter. Male blocked Trinity's punt with :32 left and passed to make 1st and goal at the 8 yd line. Then threw a TD pass but couldn't make 2pt conversion for final margin. What a game it was to watch!

  32. I know Beechwood’s QB Is a returning senior. How many others on the team are returning seniors? Is this not a factor in the strength of Beechwood’s team? I’m not saying that the coach or the school should not play these returning seniors, however it does play into the outcome of the game. Beachwood always has a good team. I think that this year is somewhat of an aberration due to this rule that allows seniors to return.

  33. 7on7 isn't a scrimmage. It's a glorified "hey let's toss the football in the yard". CCH and SK played in a real-game simulation scrimmage for 3 quarters. If you wanna talk about 7on7 you might as well start talking about times in the forty for RBs, and legpress/benchpress/clean weights for linemen.

  35. Russell comes in with 2-2 record with with wins over Boone County 19-6 and Raceland 28-18, losses to Wheelersburg,Ohio 35-16 and Lawrence County 39-28. Montgomery County comes in with a 2-1 Record with wins over Mason County 41-14 and George Rogers Clark 21-14, a loss to East Carter 22-20. Can Russell get the win on homecoming night or will Montgomery County spoil the fun?

My brother and I used to quote that movie to each other. Note to self: Find out where Dirty Work is available for streaming and watch it immediately. Rest in peace, Norm. You were an original.

  39. I totally understand having differences with coaches and “it being time to move on”. That stuff happens and is honestly probably good for both sides. However, I don’t care how anyone spins it, quitting mid season and quitting on the team is not a good look… for either side. Things are not about “you” as a coach, they’re about kids. You finish it out. Period. Coach Behymer and Coach Weinrich knew exactly what they were getting into by coaching with each other again; heck they coached in the same program for almost 20 years. Zero sympathy.
