You could say that the Lady 'Stangs are off to a "perfect" start. You could also say it was "Miller Time" Tuesday as the Lady 'Stangs opened the 2011 varsity fast pitch season with a 17-0 pasting of District Rival Calvary Christian in Taylor Mill, Ky. Senior pitcher Alicia Miller picked up where she left off in 2010 tossing a perfect game and striking out the first 13 batters she faced. The 14th batter flied to Taylor Hardy in right field and Miller took the final out herself on a slow roller up the first base line tossing it to Maria Greis at first to get the final putout for her "perfecto."
Meanwhile , Miller and her teammates started slowly on offense scoring 3 in the first, none in the second and only 1 in the third. The fifth inning would be huge though as 16 batters went to the plate plating 11 runs.
Junior Molly Williams, Senior Lindsay Griffith and Freshmen Allie Anstead and Gretchen Trumbo all had 3 rbis each to pace the offense. Freshmen courtesy runner Jaimie Reis had 3 runs scored and 4 stolen bases.

While these are admirable individual accomplishments...some things are better left unpublished. Given the expected mismatch, these types of post insult the student athletes, in this case of Calvary Christian.

So let me get this straight, just because a team beats a team they 'should' beat, there should be no write ups about the winning team? While the Big green horse often posts some odd posts, I see nothing wrong with pointing out the highlights of a very good player throwing a perfect game and giving kudos to the others who supported her effort. Nothing was negative about the Calvary players. Congratulations to Alicia Miller and the rest of the lady Stangs on starting the season off with a victory.

The issue I believe is using the word pasting to describe the outcome. A little over the top I would say, but otherwise a good informative post about the game.

Miller is a very good pitcher, one of the best in NK.

Does BB have a #2 pitcher? I am guessing not, its early but if they don't pitch some one else in a game like this than I guess Miller is all they have.
