Wainscott would make every team in the 8th Region better if she were to switch teams. Blevins would make a handful of them better. That's the difference.

Wainscott gets a lot of the attention, and deservedly so, but Stephenson doesn't seem to get much recognition. I think she is a really nice high school player. Is she back next year?

Your way off base on this one. I don't care who boxes out I care about who comes up with the ball. I would bet that Wainscott led Simon in rebounding this year (From the point guard spot). If your a big and you want the ball earn it!!!! If your a big and you are not rebounding for your team you ain't getting the ball unless you are wide open on the block. If I can't trust you to rebound I'm not trusting you with the ball.

Syd is ok, but if SK planned on getting anywhere during this season they needed to attempt to use their inside game, which did not happen. Anyone could defend SK, all they had to do was guard the perimeter. It was no secret. Good luck Wainscott and Blevins in all that you do.

Wainscott is a very good player. Very high basketball IQ, and mentally tough. To say that she breaks under pressure is not acurate at all. It is very difficult night in and night out to get things done with two and three defenders on her. Almost every high school coach would love to have her on their team. She had an amazing career at SK. Every coach I know has said if you play SK you have to stop Wainscott to beat them, others can contribute, but most everything runs through her and rightfully so. The inside game for SK this year was not their very strong. To bash on Wainscott at this point after her last game is not fair. She will graduate with stats that most kids could only dream of having during a high school career.

Amen!! I did not see her play this year but saw her a couple of times last year. Although she is not what I would call athletic, she plays smart basketball. She knows how to get around a defender and that's good bball.

Hannah is a junior and will be back next year. She usually works hard over the summer, so dont be surprised if she improves even more.

Yes, congrats to the Owen Lady Rebels on their win. Good to see them advance in the tournament. I agree Gayheart is key to the Lady Rebels, but all of the players have improved this year. It takes a team effort to continue winning in the tournament. From what I have seen this year, it appears that Gayheart probably leads her team in assists (which a point guard should), usually has several rebounds every game as well as steals and looking to make everyone on her team better, plays tough defense and makes awesome passes. A very team oriented player. Very deserving 8th region player of the year.
