Indications are Mason is losing starters Smith (transferring), Menke, and Moore plus at least one other varsity player. Bracken has done what Mason has failed to do - develop talent and keep up morale. If Bracken keeps that up, they'll do fine. Hopefully, Akin can turn things around for Mason. But, it looks like tough year for Mason. (Beverlybubba)

This was posted in the Bracken County thread. I have heard rumors of this and if this is true, Smith is leaving with 960 points and would have been the leader on a team with potential. These varsity girls did not play up to their potential, had many parent complaints and the coach was fired. Mason hires Coach Akin who comes in fresh with great ideas and all of these girls are not going to play. WHY???? Smith's mother was on the selection committee to select a new coach and she voted for this coach and now will not let her daughter play for the coach she wanted. Maybe should had a freshman or sophmore parent on the committee who will play under Coach Akin more than one year. if these girls don't play it does leave Mason in a pickle.

PCC has a great team and I look for them to repeat as 14th region champs!
I heard she was there. I don't believe that the Smith's has officially told Mason that she was leaving. Will she be eligible?

Mason's at the Georgetown College camp this weekend sans Smith, Moore and Menke. Playing pretty well though.

If I remember correctly the varsity won 7 of 10 and the JV split evenly or was 1 up. Pretty good for the shortest varsity at the camp (JV is just as tall as varsity for tallest and average height).

Correction: They beat Logan County who did have the shortest varsity team I've ever seen.

I'll take your word on that one. I was watching the JV during that game. Logan's JV must be taller or as tall than their varsity. They matched up well with Mason and won by 1.
