Here's an idea. Get a kicking game. If you feel good about the loss because the kicker should have been there then nevermind, you won't get it.

Kicking is as much a part of the game as tackling or anything else.

Congrats to the Raiders for beating the Breds. Kicking is a big part of the game but stop with the coulda shoulda's already. How about get a kicker that doesnt pick soccer as their main sport?

Sounds like that is what they are doing now. Didnt Schnieder read the soccer schedule before the season started or atleast get someone with a decent foot kicking this week in practice?

A couple thoughts on the game:

New Cath looks like a very solid club. Hard to imagine they won't again compete for the state championship. I was a bit surprised they went away from their passing game after throwing the interception in the 2nd quarter. They ran the ball well, but never seemed to get the passing game going again.

Utterly horrific decision by NCC to spike the ball on first down during the last drive. They had at least a full minute to come up with a play while the refs marked the ball and brought on the chains. The third down spike was necessary, so they only ran two plays the final drive despite having the clock stopped at (around) 50 secs.

I'm a huge Ryle fan and am thrilled with the win, but their offense is entirely too predictable and one-dimensional. They run the same formations and sets over and over. They do nothing but run on first and second down. They completed what - one pass tonight? There will simply come a time that they cannot announce to their opponent that they are running the ball on every down and be successful. It's one thing when you have Vince Murray and Scott Gray in the backfield. Their running backs are good, but not at that level. I hope they can get some semblance of a passing game going soon. All in all though, a nice win for Ryle.

Couldn't understand why they went with the two sophmore backs when Adam only carrier the ball 5 or 6 times and that wasn't until the fourth quarter when the Raiders marched up the field in about 2 minutes to reclaim the lead.
I thought the 2 young guys did great but with Adam in the backfield for four quarters I don't think it would have been close. And not passing until the final drive, what's that about? Hats off to Dylan Campbell. He out positioned the big guy for the INT and sealed the deal.

I would love to see them turn into a passing team but I just don't see it happening in the near future. May next year with a young QB.

NCC used LB Pabst who also punts to do kickoffs and attempt the first PAT. Not sure if the snap was fumbled or a designed play. He has place kicked before. After that they went for two each time because of the score e.g up 12-7 trying to make it 14-7. The place NCC missed the kickers most was probably on kickoffs as they could not reach the endzone for touchbacks and Ryle could.

Ryle might not throw it all that well but they do not make mistakes in the run game. No fumbles. And converted a couple of 3 and longs by running the ball. Guess they will have to throw it at some point, but did not have to tonight. Defense was solid gave up some yards but made some big stops.

NCC played okay but turnovers did them in. Put the ball on the ground way too much and were fortunate to recover some of them. The INTs (3) were one flat overthrown to an open receiver, one deflected at the line high into the air, and the final one in the endzone on 4th down.

And on the final play you just aren't going to see any kind of flag in that situation. (Unless it is Ohio State in the national championship game) Better to have it decided on the field that by a flag.

Don't think it has as much to do with the QB as it does recievers. Benke can throw the ball.
