Ram you have done a very good job of it for 7 years or so. I have no worries that your kids will act with class like you have . (they may not know what "class" means but they will have it anyway ) By the way, do you still have that stun gun that you use on them that no one knows about?

You do a great job with the JFL and I will thank you in this puiblic forum so others may know what kind of job that you do down here. Yourself and another one (Kenny Lacks) that as been doing it for many, many years (around 35 - 37 years I believe in the Raceland youth sports systems) have sent a lot of kids into the Jr. High and other levels with good football fundamentals. That imo is where a program comes from. This can be seen at Russell with their JFL program and Ashland as well - All have great JFL systems and it shows year in and year out in the football tradition's of the schools.

Good Luck to All
Thanks Devilmom and I may try to post an update thread if I am not at the game, I don't know - a lot of times I have trouble getting the broadcast to come in clearly.
Anyway, good luck to you and to BOTH teams in Louisa tonight.
Some may not think so but I have some very good friends and some family that are Red Devils, we have had cousins, nephews and nieces at both Raceland and Russell. Myself and both of my sisters are Raceland grads that married Russell grads.

I also have some friends in Louisa at LCHS with all of their traditon. Good people down there as well.

Nice post on Kenny Lacks, I played alot of softball against his teams, also got to play football with him, when the Raceland Alumni raised money for the program, back in 1972, he has probaly coached and played in more games, than anyone in this area, he is truely an ironman, and a great asset to the Ram community and should be recognized, at some time for his dedication and hard work through the years in the JFL and Little leauge, he has touched so many kid's lives and made an impact on their athletic careers nice job Kenny, your friend, Old Warrior.

Thank you oldrambler, I'm not sure I deserve all the credit that you give me, but I do appreciate it. I have truly enjoyed it, and if I say so myself, I think we are sending an outstanding group of sixth grade football players to jr high next year. I do have the stun gun, most people think I am patting them on the back, but I am really using negative reinforcement.

You're right about Kenny, to coach for over 35 years in a JFL, is just unheard of. He has truly been dedicated to teaching football to the youth at Raceland. He's a great coach and a much better person.

You don't have to thank me Ram, having coached youth sports (basketball and baseball) years ago for a few years I know the work and dedication that it takes.

First highlighted sentence - I understand, I had to do the same thing - just ask springsteen on that one, he recieved a couple of those from me.

Next highlighted sentence - You are correct about Ken Lacks - great person and has meant a lot to Raceland sports (all sports) through the years. Ken and his entire family are good people, they don't come any better. I have been great friends with them for around 30 years myself.

I wish I didn't have to work tonight, but I will catch a little bit of the "other" game. Six grade Mckell and Raceland play at 5:00 Saturday at McKell. Usually a pretty good game. My youngest son plays on McKell 6 grade team.

Sometimes the most obvious is the one most often overlooked. DSI (Distinctive Special Tees) is just a block from Raceland High School and has contributed to many fund raisers for the Mighty Rams for several years. They have many shirts on display and ready to purchase.
