Okay so we are just supposed to give Mercer Co. credit for being the defending 2A champs. However, we are supposed to disregard that they weer playing down a class and ignore what has transpired this year?????? Okay I'll do that, Pulaski's defense is horrible and Mercer is not nearly as good as they looked last year. I'll take Pulaski--in spite of the fact that they have one of the worst defenses I've ever seen on a playoff team--35-33. Either way neither of these team will have any say in the playoffs this year. This game is only the difference in losing in the first or second round.

I didn't figure you would be complaining about anything SHS jumps districts. So just drop it. Good luck both teams hopefully there is no injuries.

I will put the PC Defense a step above Somerset, seeing as the Jumpers gave up 62. And I do believe they are a playoff team, correct? You judge PC's "D" on that 1 game. That "Horrible" defense (Varsity) held Russell County to 14 Friday night. (Special teams had 1 TD/ JV 1 TD). Russell is not a "Horrible" football team either. The defense was not very good in week 1, but is getting better every day. It will be fun to watch Friday night. Could be another 62-50 ballgame. As long as it's PC w/ 62 we'll take it.

So you are equating SHS playing up in class to Mercer winning 2A with a 3A team. Soooooo that's exactly the same thing--we get it Pulaski addition.

Well it seems like people are always on Mercer, but anytime anything is said about your situation they are dead wrong its to save gas.

I look for Mercer to unleash some tension from the past week:

    Mercer - 35
    Pulaski - 21

Mercer had an unfair advantage and they should have won the title without any problem at all. However, the KHSAA decided that Mercer should get to compete for a championship that they were to big for. We should all just suck it up and agree that numbers don't mean anything and it was okay for Mercer to be 3A and play 2A. So they should in fact be the 2 1/2 A Champs from last year. Of course we'll get to see how they do playing schools their own size this year---so far they are 0-1.
I don't think that is necessarily true. A lot of us Mercer 'faithfuls' do see the advantage we had last year and yes, we should have played up a class IMO. That didn't happen, so let it die. I think this year's team and schedule is the more accurate 'measuring stick' to see just how tough the Titans team really is. So far, they've had to play their butts off to get the 2 wins they've gotten and it isn't going to get any easier with the exception of the trip to TN later this month. I've heard that team is pitiful.

Maybe Mercer should just give the title back What were they supposed to do. Refuse to play for a championship. It is the way it worked out. Enough said. As a Somerset supporter you as much as anyone should be tired of beating dead horses. Now back to the game. I am going to say that PC wins in a close one.

If/when they do make it to the 'pizza box' again, it will definitely be a hard fought, earned position!
I'm a little tired of all of the "unfair" and "advantage" stuff floating around about Mercer from last year. It was a hard fought, earned title period. Taking anything away from those kids that worked hard and won doesn't do their effort justice. It would be very difficult for two separate teams to come together and gel into one solid team. Mercer did that and played some pretty good competition in the end to win it all. Enough already!!!

    That said... Go Maroons!!!!

Well AVERAGE JOE, Tradition is made on the football field, I know that Pulaski hasnt played anyone very good yet but we will see what happens friday night. No matter what happens we still are better than the Jumpers. Maybee Our defense isnt that great but we could probally stop Garrad County, lets see how you do in your (tough) district game.

He is talking about the shots taken @ Mercer for playing in 2A last year. Mercer played in the classification it was put in. They did not petition the KHSAA to be put there. As Buck said, should they give the trophy back? You play when, where, & who the KHSAA tells you to.
Back to the game, Mercer lost a TON of seniors off last years team. No matter what class you play in, that hurts (ask Southwestern). As with SWHS, it will take time for the younger players to gell. It will be a fun game to watch. Let's just hope PC comes to play & puts more points on the board than Mercer does.
