OHS came out on fire as Yorel Shemwell cut loose from 60 yards out to make it 7-0 Devils. Later in the first period DB Yante' Williams picked on off and returned it for 6 making it 14-0 OHS. Shemwell made it 21-0 when he scored from 6 yards out early in the second. Then before halftime OHS shanked a punt and DC got great field position on the OHS 25. A couple plays later Cole Lanham made a great pass between 3 OHS defenders and hit Scotty Smith for a 6 yard TD. In the third quarter Williams picked off another one and took it to the house making it 28-7 OHS. Super frosh kicker Trey Cain tacked on a 40 yard field goal making it 31-7 OHS for the final tally.
A few thought on the game. Cole Lanham is a gamer. The kid is good. OHS just was in the backfield all night and Lanham had never seen a D that fast. OHS' offensive line was horrible after the first quarter. Time after time DC was stickin the OHS Rbs' in the backfield. That is not going to get it done against a good team. Kudos to the OHS D. They held a darn good QB in check all night. If not for the outstanding OHS D, the Red Devils would have been in trouble Friday night. DC's receivers need to help Lanham out. Several passes were dropped that would have really helped DC move the ball. To OHS' credit they were really hitting the DC recievers as the ball got there. Also, props to frosh Trey Cain. When this kid gets some leg strength, he might be a high school all american kicker by his senior year. Might sound crazy, but the kid is money in the bank as a frosh so we'll see. Good luck Panthers and lets see if OHS can fine tune that offense against Ohio County next week. Go Devils!
