Lone Oak 59 Obion County Central (TN) 6

When will the BGP rankings give the Oakers some respect? Early and often for the Purple Flash who actually played quite sloppy tonight. Corey Robinson's arm was slinging the ball all across the field again with 364 yards passing.

You beat the TN version of the sisters of the poor, a winless Obion Central team. Dont get me wrong, I'm pullin for the Flash but I am also gonna call it like it is. After you guys visit Madisonville and Calloway we will know more about the Flash

Just because you are winless don't mean you are a bad team, i.e. Boyle County ranked #5 0-3 now 0-4. Both of Obion Central losses were to ranked Tn teams, a school from Jackson & Ripley. Also, they hammered us the past two years in scrimmage games. I remember last year Paducah Tilghman started the season 0-5 & went on a roll. I expect a really good district matchup next Friday @ Calloway Co.

Beat Calloway and you will get respect. Hats off to Lone Oak for beating the teams on their schedule but the teams on their schedule are not world beaters by any means.

I tend to agree that Lone Oak should be ranked 8 or 9 in 4A, but based on the teams they have played I can not see them any higher. It is too bad that thier schedule doesn't present many real tests for a team that appears to very good, but they can only play the teams that are on thier schedule. The real test will probably not come until November.

Yeah, but Obion was hammered in their first two losses, too ... they weren't very competitive with those teams.

I think Lone Oak could fit in in the 8-10 range in 4A, but until they meet a team of real quality we have no way of knowing how good they are.

I don't consider losing to the #10 ranked team in 3A, Ripley, by a score of 26-7 as getting "hammered".

They might have to spend the entire season ranked in the 8-10 range. Lone Oak will have to prove their mettle in the postseason because their schedule doesn't allow for many comparisons with the upper echelon of that class.

Ripley wasn't ranked at the time, and it was 26-7 with a little under eight minutes left in the second quarter ... Ripley coasted from there.
