I went, Highlands owned Dixie in the air and on the ground.

Dixie did a decent job of moving the ball but whenever they got near the red zone HHS stopped the Colonels.

Actually Dixie needs to work on blocking and tackling. According to the Dixie fan behind me, they also need to practice during the week instead of standing on the sidelines while the varsity practices. His words not mine. I was impressed with #24 for Dixie. He played all out every play. He never gave up and gave it his all the entire game. Really liked his spirit.

I agree Ru. Birds simply dominated Dixie running the ball. Looked like Friday night all over again. Kudo's to Highlands qb, Jake Turner. Jake was pressed into the qb spot when Wil Bardo broke his collar bone last week. Jake threw some pretty balls. Impressive since he hadn't taken a snap as qb in practice or a game this entire year until Wil got hurt. I don't think he took a snap last year either, did he? Blake Newman is also returning to form after being out several weeks with an injury. If there is a tougher linebacker pound for pound with Blake I'd like to meet him. Good job Birds.

I while I don't like criticizing folks on here and rarely do it, the behavior of the Dixie fans today was bad enough to make an exception. They were yelling at our players, they were yelling at their players and their coaches, and they were yelling at the refs. It was pretty embarrassing to the Dixie program if you ask me. At one point they were so bad, the white hat yelled back at them. Don't see that too often. We were having some problems with clock maintenance, and they were yelling at the folks running the clock (a couple of times, I'll admit, they were correct. But other times the fans were wrong in their understanding as to when the clock starts and stops....the rule is that it starts and stops when the ref starts and stops it, not when the clock guy sees the guy go out of bounds. So if the ref doesn't stop the clock, the clock guy is supposed to keep it going.). They also were on the refs pretty bad for "missed calls". They were wrong. The refs were right.

Ru, if I'm not mistaken, isn't today's white hat considered one of the better refs in N. Ky if not the state? Seems the Dixie fans were pretty frustrated after last night's game and when Highlands started to dominate, it all came flowing out. I'm sure Tom really appreciated hearing the comments. One guy in particular ( I know his name because it was on his jacket, but I'll keep that to myself) was a particular idiot. Guy really needs to look himself in the mirror and if he thinks he can do so much better than Spritzky and the JV coach, he get into coaching and apply for the job. What a buffoon.

WOW! I watched from the end zone but it must have been bad in the stands. I know a few of those players from Dixie and they looked to be playing their butts off so don't know what the complaining would be all about.

From what i was hearing it was about getting the other players on the team in the game, and about the calls the refs were making

It wasn't Matt, he was probably in the OVC. It was Mr. Frank and yes, he was either the Official of the Year in Kentucky either last year or the year before.

BlueChip got it, the white hat was Joe Frank who was the Official of the year in KY two years and his crew is considered the #1 crew in NKY. Great guy too (I have to throw that in because Joe reads the forum from time to time).

One thing I noticed at the JV game that I thought was unusual, was Coach Spritzky sitting in the stands watching the game. Now I found it unusual because at most JV games that I have attended, I notice the varsity at some point will come out of either a team meeting and or a film session and do some stretching and a light jog or something. At Holmes last week the varsity and their coaches came out and did some running and stretching. At Highlands, every Saturday morning til around 1:00 or so the team will have films, meetings, and stretching. When the JV game is home, Dale and his coaches usually will come out and are with the team and help on the sideline if they can for awhile. Now if Dixie doesn't do anything on Sat. morning that is fine, but I would have at least expected Coach Spritzky (?) to have been on the sideline with his team rather than sitting in the stands.

I couldn't agree more with LN regarding the behavior and comments made from the Dixie fan(s). Besides giving it to the refs, Dixie coaches, HHS coaches, and scoreboard operator he voiced his improper comments to a HHS mom who and cheered for her son after he made an interception. The fact is, this young man rarely gets onto the field unless it's on a special team.

As I sat and listened to this fan all morning, I couldn't help but think what Coach Spritzkey was thinking. He was at the game with his parents sitting up to the left of this guy. Knowing Tom, he will continue coaching his players to improve their football skills. As for the fan, I don't think there's a cure to help him.

Overall, a great game by the JV Birds. Keep working hard...............
