Story of the game wasn't that Henry had penalties........it was that once again Owen County's defense came to play and their offense didn't.

Not sure what you were watching. One touchdown called back, a stalled drive inside the 5 and two deep balls that just missed their target would easily have been touchdowns. Henry's reciever was easily beyond the corner of Owen on both occasions. So it shouldn't have been 50, but certainly 42. HC also played their backup QB for the entire 4th quarter along with some other young kids. Any excuses aside, Henry has got to execute those opportunities when facing tougher competition this season. Not to take anything away from Owen, but they looked really out of shape in the second half and they were dropping like flies in the 4th quarter. However, they certainly played hard the entire game!

I think I was watching the same game as you. The stalled drive inside the 5....seems like to me thats called a defensive stand. On the balls that "just missed their target" I think they might have been tipped......not real sure on that one. However, I do agree. Owen definitely was out of shape.

Looked like a good defensive swat on one play and an overthrown ball against a backup corner to me.

You can call it good defense or a lack of execution as Henry had no problem, it appeared, to move the ball to that zone. You said "The only reason Henry scored their first TD was due to Owen's defender not turning to look at the pass in the air". Was it lack of execution by the D, or just good execution by the O? It's all how we paint the picture.

Yes, over thrown on a bunch of occasions (at least 5) when the recievers got well behind the secondary-This was the execution issue I was referring to on HC's part. My point, was that you said no way it should have been 50 I pointed out that due to lack of execution, nothing special by the defense, that it could very easily have been 42. However, on another point, Owen has some big boys and if they get in shape could be pretty good late in the season. Good luck to Owen this week.

I really believe Owen can be a good football team. They play hard, have some size, and a little speed. Surely over the next 3-4 weeks the games themselves will help them get to a point where conditioning won't be a factor.

The touchdown which I was referring to was good execution by Owen's D but great execution by Henry's O. You have to give credit where it's due and on that play Henry had a great pass and catch with an Owen defender right there. Great play all around. As for Owen being good late in the season IF they get some conditioning......that is a rather large IF and honestly at this point in the season conditioning should have been taken care of before now. If it hasn't happen yet then I don't see it happening at all. Such a shame cause I honestly believe Owen does have some good talent.

If you rely on only games to get into shape and don't condition any throughout the week, then a team will never be in good game shape...especially if they have kids playing both ways.

Owen appears to be struggling! Can they right the ship and get things going? They are obviously have problems scoring and you need to score to win, despite the phrase "Defense wins championships".

Owen's D is not that good. Gallatin put 29 points on them in the 2nd half.
Henry took it easy on them.
Owen dresses around 50 players, put they only have 10-12 kids that are in shape enough to play.
Did Owen ever practice hard this year?

Gallatin put 29 pts in the 2nd half when Owen's D was dead from being on the field all the time since their offense kept going 3 and out. Same for the Henry game. Once again, that plays into the whole conditioning issue. You got have to give credit to Gallatin for seeing the fatigue factor and many other things and exploiting them.

Owen's D is decent. The points scored on them came after turnovers.
