You were just thinking what I was thinking. The late 80's era would have been a good one. Harrodsburg was tough and Mercer had an awesome team. They had one of the biggest offensive lines I've ever seen on a high school team. They all were up around the 300 range. The only problem was that they lacked team speed. Then you add the Pioneers in and that team would have been just sick. Mercer had two losses that year and both were to Danville due to not being able to counter their speed. Donnie Redd was just too fast. Brandon Ford's dad Tootie was pretty good for Harrodsburg that year. I'm hearing alot of good things about his son on the 8th grade team. I hear those youngsters are looking really good right now.

Mercer also had a very good team in 1993, too , didnt they?! They went 8-3 that year, with their only losses to Danville and Anderson County during the regular season which forced them to play Rockcastle County in the 1st round, I believe?!

That's three teams that Mercer loss too who happened to have some of their (Rock, Danville, Anderson) best teams to date.

Could you have imagined putting some of those big, strong linemen in front of people like Craig Yeast, Jay Parks, etc.?!?? If people though last years overall talent level was out of this world (and in certain spots, it was), they wouldn't have known what they were looking at back then....WOW!!

Yeah, Harrodsburg had Jewel Brown (great Back who was on UK's depth chart along with Jay Parks Early on before transferring out), Jason Dunn(Still in the NFL after 11 years,,Craig Yeast(holds many SEC records still and then spent 4years in the NFL),Dennis Johnson(played 3 seasons in the NFL) Julias Yeast(Ohio St.),Chad Dunn, and many more. Mercer Had John David Taylor(great back who would knock your head off),Terry Riley(you didn't want to tackle this guy he was a tank),Timmy Rogers(NAIA all american Lb),Brian Sims (had some wheels), and many others that I'm leavin off. You throw in that line (in which there was an article in the lexington hearld leader that talked about Mercer's line being as big as the wolverines of Michigan). They were just big. And Chuck Smith was on the Mercer staff when French was at Mercer. Chuck Smith should have been the coach. He interviewed for the job. He was the real gem that got away.

I doubt it very seriously. The road would have ended in Bowling Green and possibly before that.

Does it make you feel good, keeping this chip on your shoulder and feeling so bitter?! I mean, Mercer Countians and people from the surrounding area can't even have a friendly thread opened, talking about THEIR TEAMS from the past and THEIR TEAM now, without smart, false, speculating comments in a negative way from some who in all reality had no clue about what went on last year, the YEARS before or what's going on now...I really don't get it. By the way, best of luck to your Red Devils this year! Great program, players and staff!

Gee....did you come up with that all by yourself?
Original. Sorry to bust your bubble brother, but you're about 15,000 posts too late to think you are posting anything new on that subject.

If everyone does not agree with you, YOU take jabs. "Thats old news". Did you ever think that just once you may be wrong or someone else has an opinion. The facts are on the table. Mercer was playing in the wrong division last year. That has nothing to do with you or Mercer unless you work for KHSAA who dropped the ball. There was no reason two football teams could not have been fielded last year. You had two high schools. That would have solved the problem. How about the teams that were suppose to play Harrodburg. Were they just kicked to the curb? You know very well what KHSAA did last year was at the expense of all players in 2-A and the ones that should have played Harrodsburg. Your only defense is It's old news, stop crying, ect. Enjoy 5-A.

And here they go again, Bob, "Tell them what they've won!!!" Technically, there was one school, the fact that both, not even a mile apart from one another, each offered seperate classes for kids to take and that one couldn't hold them all, doesnt qualify as two schools. Guess what happens if they don't combine both schools before last year, since you think you're so good at knowing what all goes on down here and the REAL THINKING of this merger?!? If they don't take the fiscal money from both school systems to combine, the new school (that is in construction) would only be one of $18 million, instead of the almost $27 million that it is going to be. Try this one on for size....Don't you think that with that extra $9 million that, the total area of the school would be bigger, more classrooms would be built, computers, etc. to be able to fully serve the population of the school adequately?!?? Makes sense to me. Also, tell me who would have applied for a Superintendent's job in a district that was going to be going under in a year or less, anyway?! That had a WHOLE LOT to do with it, but I forgot, you live here and are apart of the community and school system, so you know it all, right?! Go check the enrollments for the classifications last year and you'll see that Mercer's gap in 2A compared to the smallest 2A school wasn't any bigger than it was in 1A, 3A and especially not 4A. In 4a, you had schools like Henderson, Henry Clay, Dunbar, Manuel, Lafayette, etc. playing with an enrollment of close to 2,000-2,200...playing against schools like Lincoln County that barely had over 1,100!!! Do the Math, it's not that hard. Good luck to you all tonite!

I was once told that "gossip" and false "gossip" at that, was one of the worst things a person could do. Why you and others feel that you have the right to voice your opinions on things that you have absolutely no idea about is completely beyond me. Good luck to you and your Red Devils this year. Class program!

I am all for that. I'm just trying to spread some real truth about something that has been speculated on, falsified, rumored, etc. for over a year now...it gets kind of old, to be honest. A friendly conversation starts, and then it gets infiltrated by false ideas and rumors. Just trying to spread some TRUE insight, that is all.

Now, back to the original part of the thread...anyone?!

I think it would be non-sense not to have Mark Dunn at a RB position. Doesnt he hold Harrodsburg All-Time Rushing Yards?

What about Mark Dunn or any of the Dunn family that played over there.

The running back list and the Dunn family list could go for days and days and days. Mercer currently has Yeast's and Dunn's on their team, still. Those athletic families pedigree never dies out.
