Boone County schools all getting turf fields

Per a tweet from the Conner principal:

The Boone County School Board just announced approved funds for turf fields for all four high schools. Coming soon to CHS!

    Great news!

Someone told me Ryle is getting new turf this year, the others in 2021.

    Is this really the case?

From what I have heard I think that all four will be started at the end of the 2020 season.

Yes. I haven’t been on their field in a while, but I’d say it’s way overdue for replacement.

All of the Boone County schools, including Ryle, will have turf (or new turf, in Ryle's case) by February of 2021.

Ryle's turf was in bad shape and they had already launched a private campaign to raise money to replace it.

Northern Kentucky Youth Athletics is stating that the Boone County Board of Education approved field turf for all Boone County High Schools to be ready in time for the fall 2021 season (Ryle replacement) and fall 2022 season (Boone, Conner, Cooper).

I'm simply passing along what I was told by a Boone County official, that the project is ear-marked to be completed across the county by February of 2021. If they have it wrong, I apologize.

Nice article in the Northern Kentucky Tribune on how this came together:

Boone County Schools recently received a very large, and very unexpected, increase in revenue.

Thursday night, the School Board voted unanimously to put a significant portion of those funds to use.

An audit by the Boone County License and Occupation Department revealed an error in the tax filing of a global employer with a significant presence in the county.

The error had been repeated over a few years and it was determined that the company had underpaid by several million dollars.

The County did not disclose the exact amount, but a January invoice report from the Boone County Fiscal Court indicates a transfer of $16,304,549.06 to the Boone County Board of Education.

Wow. That’s a nice amount of expected money.
