    Belfry 51 Shelby Valley 8

Final Score Belfry 51 Shelby Valley 8

Game was more competitive than you might think. Pirates took advantage of several SV turnovers and pulled away in the 2nd half.

Kudos to Glenn Ernest, Belfry's kicker who kicked a 50 yd field goal.

Belfry lost Dustin May to injury. He was limping off the field with help. Hope it is nothing serious and he is able to return.

Pirates have a week off to heal up and get ready for Pikeville.

Word is at this point it may not be serious. Team dr. should be looking at it now. If it was thought to be serious he would have been sent to the hospital ER last night. Dr."Coach" Chuck was in Lexington enjoying a huge Wildcat victory!

Wish I could have been there, but there was another game featuring Wildcats wearing blue and white jerseys that I figured would be a bit more competitive that I chose to attend.

I figured Valley would make it a little closer than this... this Valley team is actually a pretty daggone good football team and they had alot to play for last night. I certainly hope the two players make a full recovery, and that the Wildcats don't take such a lopsided loss to a very good team as too much of a blow to their psyche... I personally think they can upset P-burg and win that district if the cards fall right.

I also find it ironic that the LHL mentioned yesterday in their UK/UL Preview as being one of the In-state recruits expected to eb at the game... not only could May not attend, but he also gets injured. I really hope the kid is alright, he has alot of football left in his future.

For the record, I see our varsity defense keeping the streak alive through this week. "OPEN" hasn't scored on anyone yet this season, I am pretty sure we have a good chance of pitching a shutout.

Although I do think that "OPEN" vs. Phelps will be a good game! LOL

I work with some football players and they told me that May was doing fine.

You have an excellent defense. I believe that you had to play the varsity the entire game to preserve your shutout against Corbin.

Up until Corbin's final posession when it was mainly JV (ie... Only starter's remaining were Lovern and Varney who are Sophomores)... the Hounds are the only team thusfar to see the Belfry starters in the 4th Quarter.
