The 8th will be very competitive as it was this year. These teams return alot next season and should be favorites
    Oldham
    North Oldham
    Walton
    Owen
I think these 4 are favorites but these teams are sleepers
    South Odlham
    Collins
    Gallatin
    Simon

I was actually trying to stir the pot again about lack of coverage about the 8th, I've not seen the southern end of the 8th play this past year. Walton is young and talented, this may or may not be there year, but watch out for them the next two for sure.

I thought Owen Co. was really talented and for some reason couldn't get out of the district. Simon and Walton both have alot returning, Grant, though their record didn't show it was in nearly every game they played and only lost 1 senior. Gallatin will be Gallatin. Jon always has those boys ready to play! Should be interesting.

One team that we saw this past year that has improved is Eminence. With Foree returning in the middle and the scrappy freshman point guard, they will make some noise in the 31st district with their move for 2011-12.

    Excellent TAC.

Walton who won their district this year will win it again as they lose nothing from this years team, even though Simon has juniors they still lose some players, and still can not get past first round of region apparently. Simon supposed to have been winning the 8th for the last 4 years. Owen hosts their district and return all starting 5, look for the other Williams 8th grader to play alot of varsity and the guards to get better. Oldham returns Smith and Wesley, North returns Levitch and Rowan. Old Jon Jones will have his boys clicking and Collins should be better! Look for Oldham to repeat as champs

Why is this always brought up? Honestly in six seasons since they've entered the 8th they've had one squad that was favored to win the region ('07) and they fell in OT in the finals. We've been average since that class graduated but we should have a nice club next season. Hopefully we can get past the first round since when have we've fared well in round two.

    '11: 16-14 *(Loss in 1st round to OC 54-51)
'10: 14-12 (Loss in 1st round to Owen Co 61-59)
    '09: 9-17 (Loss in 1st round to SC 42-39)
    '08: 14-16 (Loss in 1st round to SO 60-51)
'07: 24-9 *(Loss in championship to OC 63-57)
'06: 20-11 *(Loss in championship to Shelby 67-56)

Coach Holland seems to be the only coach in the 8th region who really applies defensive pressure. For that reason, I see the Colonels repeating as 8th region champ.

Same reason I see Oldham winning the 8th again myself. They were top 5 in the state in defense again this season, 47ppg. Playing a tough schedule, and giving up only 47 a game is unbelievble. They return alot no reason that they are not cpmpetitve. But the 8th again will be wide open in my opinion with any of the 8 having a chance to win a region. Watching the 8th region Oldham is the only team that steps out and plays 7/8 region teams which I think helps them. North Oldham will flat out guard you as well, they will only get better with Coach Henley.

Coach Holland coached that way in Henry County as well, and thats why he had his teams competing towards the end. He really preaches defense, and the majority of his practices are based around defense. Strong on the ball pressure and full court man/trap defenses. He is a wiz when it comes to that. With all that said, I think it will be an Oldham County school to bring home the title this year, and for some reason I am thinking it will be North. With one more year under his belt, Rowan could very well be a D1 player in college. He is just so pyhsically built, and has a great BB IQ.

Noodle did well at Henry and will continue to do well at Oldham. But to say he is the only coach that teams apply defensive pressure? Come on, that is a ludacris statement.
