Impressive win by GRC. Just need to remain focused and take it one night at a time. Daniel came to play tonight and the team is much better when he is on. Great game by Bopper.

GRC must have been good on defense to hold Smith, Haynes and Roberts to a total of 19 points. Roberts with zilch.

And I was hoping Scott would finally break the curse. Good luck to GRC.

Clark County 69, Scott 41: The Cardinals, ranked fourth in the state, scored seven straight points midway through the first half to open up a 17-7 lead and were up by double digits the rest of the way en route to their 21st win in their last 23 games.

Jaylen Daniel led four Cardinals in double figures with 20 points, and Vinny Zollo had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Clark outrebounded Scott 34-15.

Nick Farris scored 16 points, with four 3-pointers, to lead the Eagles.

Clark advances to 10th Region finals

The title game, which will mark Clark’s fifth appearance in the past six seasons, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Humphrey says he liked the way his players reacted in the locker room after Saturday night’s win and the mental focus it’s had all season after finishing as regional runner-up the last two seasons.
“This group’s been around forever, and it has to be the most experienced group in the state,” said Humphrey. “After the game they were excited and rightfully so, but when I came to walk out (to do post-game interviews) I didn’t hear an uproar. We really haven’t accomplished anything yet. I think that mentality started on Oct. 15. Our preparation, our schedule and how we’ve approached every game and every practice has been of the mindset to put ourselves in position to be playing here on Monday night and winning it. That’s all we can control. You can’t control who’s on the other side of the bracket.”

“Just playing at our pace was the key to winning the game,” said senior forward Jaylen Daniel, who finished with a game-high 20 points on 9 of 11 shooting from the field and had four dunks. “Coach told us not to hurry up and just play our tempo.”
The Cardinals led by as much a 30-14 in the first half after Rogers’ layup off a nice feed from Travis Purvis and led 32-18 at halftime.

Rogers finished with 16 points, Stenzel had 15 and five assists and Zollo tallied 12 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and two blocked shots.

Scott closed within 39-28 midway through the third quarter, but the Cardinals went on a 9-0 run, including senior guard Robbie Stenzel’s fourth three-pointer of the game and a dunk by Daniel to cap it, putting them ahead 48-28.

Clark outrebounded Scott, 34-15, grabbing almost as many offensive rebounds (12) as Scott had total.
One thing I like about GRC this year is that all 5 starters seem to not care who has the most points and the most spot light.
Don't know how many assists we had all together, but Zollo and Robbie Stenzel had 5 assists each.

CC was just too big, too quick, too whatever tonight for Scott to compete. This is what I expect CC to do every time they take the floor. Let's face it, for the past 2 years no one in the 10th region could stop them based upon their talent level but they gotta stay focused on closing out the tournament and if they are, the PC game will be over early. Congrats

Clark and Mason were both looking forward to another show down Monday night. Coach Humphrey or Coach Allison probably watched Mason play 15 to 20 times this year and peobably did not watch Scott or Pendleton twice. After Mason lost, I said before the game that Clark would beat both teams by 20 or more. Clark came out and played free and easy and destroyed Scott. Clark size will just be to much against the Wildcats and Clark will be the 10th Region Champions and on to Rupp arena. Enjoy it because playing in the State tournament is much better than attending the state tournament.

Could not be more wrong! Over the course of the season we see Coach Humphries so much we don't know why he doesn't have a reserved seat at the end of the Scott HS bench! Not too sure about how many times he scouted Pendleton Co but his staff works very hard at being prepared so would not be surprised if he took in a few of their games as well.
