It's been my pleasure to know Mr. Hickey since his third or fourth grade year. A great kid and a terrific competitor. I wish him nothing but the best.

I don't know the young man but if he keeps that iron will to win he'll do great things sports aside. Some people just have that extra gear in life.

Took this from the Cats' Pause 2010-11 UK Yearbook article about Mr. Basketball candidates:

The darkhorse for the award could be Christian County's Anthony Hickey. The 5-foot-10 point guard averaged 15.3 points and 5 rebounds per game last season. He has led the Colonels to the KHSAA Sweet Sixteen the last two seasons.
He had a strong showing over the summer, playing for the Nashville Celtics. Hickey has scholarship offers from Liscomb, Murray State, Oklahoma State and Western Kentucky.
"We have to win it," Hickey said. "We keep making it to state but we keep losing, so we have got to go there and win one. I'm going to put this team on my back and we are going to try and win that thing this year."

    Gotta love it!!

West Virginia University basketball coach Bob Huggins and LSU coach Trent Johnson talk while watching Christian County High School senior guard Anthony Hickey Jr. work out on Thursday afternoon in Colonel Gym.

More coaches are due to come to Hopkinsville to watch Hickey work out in the coming weeks!
