Dixie Heights 3 Bishop Brossart 2

Jake Ollier started for the Stangs tonight and then Ian Hehman came into the game for the last inning. Clayton McKinney started for the Colonels with Parker Stansberry coming into the game in the 5th.

Bishop got ahead first in the 2nd inning. Then Corbin DeMatteo hit a 2 run homerun in the 4th to put the Colonels ahead. Tyler Sexton hit a solo homerun which proved to be the game winning homerun in the bottom of the 6th.

Key play of the game was in the top of the 6th with Brossart runners at 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs with the score 2-1 in favor of the Colonels. A strikeout in the dirt that Popham blocked and looked the runner down at 3rd then fired to 1st. Sexton caught it and realized the runner was heading towards home and fired a perfect throw home to Stansberry who was covering home for the old fashioned 2-3-1 double play. Stansberry then got a ground ball to get out of the inning. HUGE PLAY by Popham on the block, Stansberry on the tag and the brains to be covering home and to Sexton for an absolute perfect throw home.
