    The Murder of Louis Allen

    From 60 Minutes tonight.

Sad story but hardly shocking to anyone over 40.

My guess is there are two schools of thought on this.

Why bring up something from 40 years ago and re-open old wounds?

    Or

Yes, bring it up because Louis Allen deserves justice and the youngsters need to know about the history and know what the "old timers" are referring to.

My guess is we'll have both expressed here.

I doubt that anything will ever be resolved in cases like these. But to these families, these are not old wounds. They are as deep and as real now as they were then.

IMO, as long as the families want to persue it, if there is any chance that justice can be served, then it should be pursued.

Well, I think we should never stop investigating and speaking about the past and in particular "that past." The truth is that if we don't continue to remind ourselves of what "really was" then we invent a mythic past that was not entirely true.

We then find it easy to say things like: "When we had prayer in schools our world was a much better place." Or "America was really America back then." Simplistic axioms that are myths at best and lies at worst when confronted with the facts of actual events in history.
