I don't want to hijack it but you just lumped everybody into one big system and I'm sure I could retort with more Japanese stats.

    I won't.

Truth is it is more about family systems and societal structure and welfare is an easy out of an excuse for those who somehow magically think indirectly "see if we didn't have welfare we'd be that way."
Didn't mean to get your shorts in a wad. I wasn't bashing or lumping anything. I was simply posting information for discussion just like you.

What happened over there was tragic, beyond belief. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. My grandfather was a POW in WWII and he was a prisoner of the Japanese. They were some very cruel people...

1.7% of US population derive over 50% of income from welfare.

8% receive some assistance visa vie some amount less than the above in a from of assistance.

Not sure the numbers are as large of a difference as you are stating.

I think it's mentality. Societal and family structures that support discipline and a sense of community over self are the REAL factors that explain their reactions to this horror. (It's not a welfare debate but a mindset difference IMO)

That 1.7% must all be close to where I'm from.

That's sad, I think Michael Bay's movie Pearl Harbor was actually more of a tragedy than the actual Pearl Harbor.
