Einstein70 10 Posted October 9, 2010 NEWPORT 29, LLOYD 13 -- Senior Brandon Carter broke two long touchdown runs to lead Newport. Carter gave the Wildcats a quick lead with a 76-yard touchdown run on Newport’s first play from scrimmage. Carter capped the scoring for Newport with a 44-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Carter, who lines up at both running back and receiver, finished with six carries for 142 rushing yards and three receptions for 30 yards. Senior quarterback Demetri Brown added 52 rushing yards on 15 carries and completed 11 of 20 passes for 181 yards and a 20-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Rodney Orr. Junior receiver Andrew Merrill was Brown’s top target with five catches for 114 yards. Lloyd sophomore quarterback Dexter Smith ran 23 times for 86 yards and one second-quarter touchdown, accounting for the Juggernauts other touchdown with an 11-yard pass to senior Jon Danks in the fourth quarter.
