Paris at Rockcastle County Predictions/Updates

The Paris Greyhounds have been road warriors so far this early season and will be on the road again this week. They’ve already made trips to Paintsville, and Hazard. They are on the road again to take on another undefeated team again this week against the Rockcastle County Rockets.  Paris rebound nicely this week after taking one chin the week before at Hazard. They knocked off Montgomery County 34-14 to push there record to 3-1 on the season. 
 

The Rock as many call them are 4-0 the season and have had this one penciled in on the schedule for awhile since Paris upset them last year on a last second field goal. 

Who wins this matchup? Can Paris get road win #2 and extend its record to 4-1? Does Rockcastle County move to 5-0?

Rock fans have waited an entire year for this game. It’s been circled on the calendar since the end of last years game at Paris when we lost by a FG when their shouldn’t have been any time left on the clock yet they go back and add 1 second. Funny thing is as wild as that was it ended up being the reason we were seated behind Bell County as the number 2 spot in the RPI and had to play Lex Catholic in the 3rd round instead of being the number 1 seed ahead of Bell as we went to log mountain and won the head to head matchup. While this game means nothing as far as district goes it means a lot more come playoff especially if we repeat as district champs and a loss to Paris comes into play in the RPI again. Rock should be ready to play as the season officially kicks off Friday night as the next 3 weeks will determine where we stand.

Paris will be the toughest team they’ve played so far this season. Paris will need to rotate plenty of DL in this game. 8-9 men in the box all night. Paris wore down against Hazard, if Rock has size then they will wear them down. Best thing for Rock is not to get punched in the mouth first. They better do the punching. Better sure up special teams and stay in there lanes or that Paris speed will get gone.

It's almost a little bit sad to see a program with the self importance of Rockcastle County having to circle a game, for an entire year, against a 1A team that didn't get out of the 2nd round last year.  If the Rockets manage to lose this game 2 years in a row, something has went horribly wrong in Mt. Vernon.

Have you been under a Rock? No pun intended but we have had problems for  over 15 years ….now he is gone and we have a coach that wants to win but you have to rebuild the culture the same way his dad did and he is doin that. It’s evident every week with the amount of support from the community Rome nor Rockcastle was built over night but he has already achieve what the last administration couldn’t and that was a 3rd round game at home last year against Lex Catholic. Now that game never went the way it could have but with nearly every key play injured for that game we knew it was a tall task. Under Parkey his entire coach career at Rock which was the coach who replace Tom Larkey he never made it out of the 2nd round and never had 11 win season. Chris Larkey did both those last year in just his 2nd year back. This is his 3rd year now 2021 was his first. We will be just fine regardless of the outcome of tonight’s game we are in good hands.
