Colonels_Wear_Blue
Paul Laurence Dunbar head coach Wes Johnson is taking the bull by the horns and getting things organized. Looks like he's borrowing a page from the Northern Kentucky Freshman "League" with the championship games in the final week of the season. 1.) 9 game schedule filled out by league-runners. 2.) Monday Game Play. 3.) Championship games at the end of the season for game 10. 4.) Freshman and Sophomores only. No Juniors. 1

Do those three all have dedicated freshman teams?

Do those three all have dedicated freshman teams? I don't know about Great Crossing or Scott Co. (I'm pretty sure Scott has 3 dedicated teams with the type of program Coach runs) but Douglass does have 3 dedicated teams but were not asked to play in this league. They would have been willing to play their dedicated freshman only team vs. the teams but were not ask to participate. No Lexington freshman team would schedule Douglass. The Douglass freshman schedule: Trintiy Bullitt East Corbin St. X Boyle Co. Madison Cent. Great Crossing The Douglass JV schedule: Scott Co. (home and home) Bryan Station (home and home) Corbin Madison Cent. Great Crossing Looking for 2 more teams
LoneRanger
For many years Coach McKee organized the Bluegrass Freshman Conference. A great opportunity for Freshman Teams to have a dedicated Freshman Schedule and compete each week. Both Scott Co Schools, the Lexington Public Schools, Lex Cath, Both Madison Co Schools, GRC, Woodford have all been involved with it at some point. Have traditionally played a 9 game schedule with a very nice Championship Saturday slate of games the last Saturday after final regular season Friday.

Great Crossing Looking for 2 more teams Oh man, I'd love to see them connect with Cov Cath for a JV game. Aside from their 1 point loss to Highlands and their 7 point win over Ryle, they more or less steamrolled everyone the rest of the season. They didn't even play JV games against three of the four teams in their district - Holmes didn't field a JV team, and Grant County & Harrison County either didn't field JV teams or else declined to play us. They managed to pick up a game against Boone County, but I'd LOVE to see them challenge themselves against Douglass. Might be worth an email or phone call.

Just having his freshman participate was never discussed, nor an option. Also, Dunbar has played FDHS in freshman or JV ball every year since I've been at Dunbar. Love the challenge when it works out to do so. Coach McPeek and I discussed the possibility of still playing this upcoming week if a cancellation occurs in either one of our seasons. I think the schedule you posted is a great one for them! Good luck to the Broncos!

This was a great League and well organized and run by Coach McKee. I got the model for the Froshmore League from our participation in that one.
