What do Mike Yeagle(Beechwood) and Randy Reese(Paris) have in common? Both of those guys with their offense forced us (Mercer 86; Paris early 90's) out of our 5-2 Monster into a 4-4. When we could get away with it, we let our FS play Robber and fill on option/run game when he got the proper read.
Both offenses had the ability to attack across the field. They had balance and could run the option. They also had the studs to make it go... guys like Lanie Fomas, Larry Harris, Bo Henry, Tommy Skeen, Greg Hergott, Shannon Huth, Brandon Berger, Brad Wulfeck, and I could keep going.
Our base defense became the 4-4 by the 2000 season.
Both of those excellent football coaches were part of our conversation in the toughest offense to defend in this podcast. To prepare for a Mike Yeagle or Randy Reese offense, you better eat your Wheaties. You had your hands full. Strong scheme with the guys to make it work.
Years later, Jeff Reese was certainly a chip off the old block. Very much a guy that knew how to attack a defense and score points. Excellent scheme guy who also had some studs at Owensboro HS.
