Purple88 Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 Congrats South Warren! This game was played on a 50 yard field. BGs offense just couldn't move the ball for the majority of the game as South Warrens defense played very very well. BG couldn't run the ball and for the most part had WAY too many dropped balls to take pressure off the line of scrimmage to make a difference. Their drive in the second quarter was very impressive to me, but 1 drive in a game against a very good team obviously won't get it done. First 3 game losing streak since 2002. BG is now on their BYE week and will come back to travel across town to a hungry Greenwood team that clobbered Christian County tonight. Time to step up Purples. Spartans had alot to like tonight. NO Turnovers were big. I thought LB turned RB Burton was the Spartans best RB tonight by a wide margin. Bell was good. And this was while missing star Christian Conyers. Also Willingham is a terrific receiver and had 3 TDs I think. Great game. But please South, change announcers. Wow! 1 2
The Flea Market Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 I think this settles who the king of Warren Co is this year!
Bud_Kilmer Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 Greenwood might have their best chance to beat BG in a very long time! Some BG folks will have to give me some history there. Has Greenwood ever beat BG and if so, when was the last time?

While I agree this is a relatively better shot than they’ve had for a bit, I remain skeptical. It will definitely always be a “I’ll have to see it first” deal with that. 3

They have not, the motivation is normally that you don’t want to be the first team to lose to Greenwood. Should be a decent game this year.

People keep trying to say that - I don’t know why it is so hard to accept that they’re pretty even as programs and there’s going to remain a back and forth pull between them. Bowling Green has an extremely talented freshman class coming up, and prior to last night had won three of four against South, which included two straight postseason wins. In 2018 everyone declared South Warren the winner moving forward because of that dominant team and that 3 of 4 stretch I just mentioned was what followed. Let’s see if South strings together some years of wins over the Purples in dominant fashion before we bury Bowling Green. 4 1

This is hilarious. I don't know if this is some one who is just trolling or someone who just started watching high school football this year, but this one of silliest statements I've seen on this entire board.

Probably somewhere in the middle. 1
Spartandad Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 Being a Spartans fan, I found this game to be very surprising. I expected a lot more out of Bowling Green's defense. Central Lousiville offered a significantly harder challenge to South. Not sure what that says about how good Bowling Green really is this year, but Central definitely seamed to be a better team. I honestly thought this would be a much closer, lower scoring game. I also wasn't expecting South's offense to shine as brightly as it did. Veltacmp was excellent. South's defense is phenomenal. I honestly believe them to be the best in the state. There are so many amazing kids on that side of the ball. And South has been without their best player for 4 games. Nobody seems to be able to run on them at all. BG and SW will meet again. South cannot take BG for granted. I remember the first time the two teams played. BG embarrassed South in the regular season, only to be upset by them in the Playoffs. The same thing could happen this year. As far as South being the dominate team in Warren county going forward, I wouldn't count on it completely. South is loaded with senior talent and there aren't that many stars, besides Conyers that will be around next year. They will lose a lot.. Anything can happen though. The coaching and atmosphere at South is what really makes them contenders each year. 1 1
