North Oldham vs. Waggener predictions / updates

Recommended Posts

North Oldham (2-3) travels to Louisville to play Waggener (2-3) in their district opener on Friday.

Free, live high definition video coverage begins at 7 pm ET on www.pegasussportsky.com.

I'll post updates as I can.

North, who has never made the playoffs since this particular district alignment (North, Central, Franklin County, Shelby County, Waggener) was started in the 2019 season, going 0 for 8 against district foes in those two seasons, will go into this game as the prohibitive favorite behind a strong defense that has played very well this year.    The question is whether the Mustangs will be able to generate enough points, with starting QB Jace Bullock out for the season with a broken collarbone.

In a 35-7 win over Western last week, North's defense contributed 16 points, including two safeties and two pick-sixes.  Liam Hutson had both pick-sixes, Tyler Vance had 9 tackles, including 3 sacks, and the Mustangs also recovered a fumble while giving up just 267 yards of offense.

Waggener had a two-game winning streak (14-13 over Moore and 38-22 over Seneca) interrupted by quarantine, when they lost by forfeit to Eastern last week.

This could be a very, very interesting game.   North first-year coach Jamie Brown could all but clinch a playoff berth with a win over the Wildcats on the road.
